Pros

Work from anywhere culture paired with enticing benefits makes for a job offer that’s hard to resist. You’ll probably look at Glassdoor and go “wow! Super high rating and everyone loves them, I’m definitely taking this job!”

Cons

Oh how wrong you’d be. Calix is well known for their revolving door of new hires and “layoffs” to the point where it can appear as if their HR staff exists purely to hire and fire. People you just met seem to disappear with no explanation. There’s always shuffling of people, titles, and priorities to hide behind when in reality, the company lacks stability at its core. If you are not part of the rah rah culture that is obsessed with LinkedIn or willing to flatter management regardless of the quality of their work or ideas, you’ll quickly be out of the clique. Everything is just perfect at Calix, don’t you know? Pointing out anything to the contrary is not allowed. Beware the reviews - management pushes HARD for their employees to leave positive reviews with multiple reminders and messaging that not so subtly sways those with concerns to stay quiet.

Aligning across multiple teams and priorities sometimes takes persistence, and success often depends on being proactive, detail‑oriented, and comfortable navigating change.
