Pros

If one comes from a retail background, the majority of weekends off and the ability to take time off around Thanksgiving and Christmas are nice perks.

Cons

One will perpetually be yelled at by customers, since the District Manager becomes the first line of defense for every upset customer in the district. You will have to work in the elements, as cutting locks in the heat of the summer/cold of the winter and running auctions in the torrential downpours is a regular portion of the job. There is nearly zero ability to innovate or think critically, as every aspect of the job is process oriented and one, therefore, merely becomes focused on endless tasks. If I had to guess, the company advertises the salary on each job posting because they would not get any applications for the position otherwise, and certainly wouldn't be able to retain good people if it did not pay better than many from the retail background - from which they recruit - are used to being compensated. There is simply not any satisfying aspects of the job itself.

Pros

Public Storage is a great place to work and grow your career. I’m surrounded by talented leaders who are supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in developing their teams. The company has a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, which creates an environment where employees can succeed and make an impact. What excites me most is that Public Storage is in a significant growth phase. It’s an energizing time to be part of the organization, with opportunities to contribute to meaningful initiatives, take on new challenges, and help shape the future of the business. The company continues to invest in its people, processes, and growth strategy, making it an excellent place for those who are looking to develop professionally while being part of a winning team. If you’re looking for a company with strong leadership, career advancement opportunities, and a clear vision for the future, Public Storage is a fantastic place to be.

Cons

Cons: As Public Storage continues to grow, the pace of the business can be very fast. There are often multiple initiatives, priorities, and opportunities happening simultaneously, which requires strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly. Success in this environment depends on being able to effectively prioritize, manage competing demands, and stay focused on the highest-impact work. While the pace can be challenging at times, it also creates tremendous opportunities for growth, learning, and career development.

Pros

Public Storage offers a strong work-life balance and a supportive environment, even during periods of change and transformation. The company is recognized as a Great Place to Work, and I can personally attest to that—it truly reflects the culture here. There’s a clear focus on both team success and individual contributions, which makes the work feel meaningful and collaborative. Employees are given a voice and feel valued, with accessible and approachable senior leadership. The benefits and overall rewards package are competitive, and the company’s stability as an industry leader adds an extra layer of confidence in long-term career growth.

Cons

The pace of ongoing transformation can sometimes lead to shifting priorities and the need to adapt quickly. As the business evolves, processes and tools may change frequently, which can create occasional ambiguity or require additional time to adjust. Workloads can also fluctuate depending on business needs, particularly during peak periods, which may impact balance at times.
