Pros

In the beginning it is the perfect employer.

Cons

The projected environment when you first arrive either as an employee or a client is perfect. They promise they are different on how they treat employees and how clients are brought in and serviced, this is consistently communicated to gain employees and clients with a trusted message. After a short period employees realize that they are only valuable if they can be placed at a very low rate, and even though they promise they do not layoff employees, they do just that at every level if you won't be relegated to role that is beneath you that suits their low cost model. For clients, they get in the door with being different, but in fact they want to provide the lowest rate and once you are in the door their goal is then to bring as many people as possible to the engagement. They consistently change employees experience when presenting to a client, and this has horrible end results for the success of each project. The model is based on a few people on top, promising a great environment through company sessions, but in fact they are behind the scenes running a current day sweat shop where everyone is fooled. The very best people they have to offer consistently leave on their own when they realize this environment, and also understand that if you aren't in the inner circle, you wont work or be around long.

I’m sorry to hear this and wish you could have experienced Slalom differently. Being fairly new to Houston, I can’t speak for how it was a few years ago. In a growing organization there are always growing pains, however we strive to deliver on what we promise to our people and to our clients. Most of the time we achieve that. Some times we don’t. In those cases, I encourage employees bring those concerns up to their manager and/or me as my door is always open. We want to be responsive and able to course correct quickly. I would love the opportunity to talk more in depth. Feel free to contact me 425.985.4959 or brianj@slalom.com. Brian Jacobsen, General Manager

Pros

people are very kind and its a great network to then have for life

Cons

I had 5 managers in 4 years, 3 of which promised me a promotion which I never got I was strung along in a seperate global team for a year and a half and then when I finally was moved to that group they fired 80% of us it's now an up or out company and people are leaving faster than business is coming in, that's been happening for 2 yrs my mental health was so bad i had two burnouts in a single year my last manager emotionally abused me and made me feel like i was a terrible person. I left believing that was why I was fired until i chatted with another former employee of this manager work life balance WAS a thing and in the last two years it's now that consultants are also responsible for selling, travel is a non-negotiable but expectations for travel are not transparent and can impact your yearly review, straight up not enough work and then senior management will make you feel bad for it
