Pros
Don't bother unless you're straight out of school and need the practice.
Cons
Absolutely, and I cannot stress this enough, TERRIBLE management, minimum wage, no employee or client support. It's all a numbers game with no soul.

Since each salon is independently owned and operated, your franchisee would be the best person to address your concerns. Please contact them directly regarding any issues with employment.

Pros
Paid by the hour so there’s a guaranteed wage. Friendly environment. They offer more then minimum wage to start.
Cons
Highly stressful work days. Paid by the hour to do 2.5 haircuts per-hour to make company quota. That’s each client in and out your chair with a timed haircut of 13-15 minutes, and selling them product out the door. They seem under staffed all the time and don’t put enough people on the floor during busy weekends, puting more stress under employees. Two people on a busy day not allowing for lunches or being able to go to a bank to cash in change. There’s a lot of company policy’s and dress codes and employee rules. It’s above minimum wage, however I can go up the street and make four dollars more an hour at McDonald’s without a diploma. This is a state license required job that we have to pay to go to school for. I am extremely disappointed in this company in particular, you would think for a state license required job in a multi million dollar corporation that runs nationwide would pay they’re employees just a little more and have more people on hand to accommodate less stressful busy times.

Pros
Each salon is independently owned (Franchise), so you would need to look into the franchise owner and everything they have to offer. The salons (83) in my area are owned by the same franchisee, so we have a great and consistent work culture. I myself have been employed with Great Clips for for over five years. You do EVERY haircut imaginable. You learn so much because there are so many haircuts. We also have an education team; who assists when necessary. Best for experience and you make money, hourly and tips, because it’s nonstop. Unlike most salons, we have a wide range of benefits (Medical, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, Short-Term disability, Employee Assistance Program, FINFIT, PTO, Flexible Hours, Paid Holidays, Payroll Deduction, Sketcher shoe discount.) Finally, the clients can be absolutely incredible, kind, and it’s fun to talk to them about random stuff. Also, the kids are hilarious and cute.
Cons
I hate it because people assume Great Clips has terrible stylist. However, that is not true and they have resources to assist, where other salons do not.

Pros
If you're a stylist, I can see it being beneficial to work here.
Cons
They hire receptionists, but I strongly feel that title is misleading. All the receptionist does is answer the phone, check in clients, not out, the stylist does that to make sure they get their tips. And then basically Cian the entire shift. You have to clean up after every single stylist once the customer is out the chair. Non stop sweeping, cleaning their combs, brushes, etc. Washing towels, aprons, taking out trash, running errands and also keeping the front clean and the products. You're basically a janitor, not a receptionist. You're helping the stylist, so you would think tipping the so called "receptionist" for making their day go back smoother would be something Great Clips would enforce or just hire a janitor instead.

Pros
The tips are very good at busier locations.
Cons
Sometimes you’ll take customers back to back and there won’t be time to take breaks. Make sure you prioritize breaks!!! And work life balance if very hard if you’re full time!
