      IMP Software – Disorganised, Mismanaged, and Not Ready for Senior Talent

      Leadership lacks technical maturity and strategic direction. Head of Engineering dismisses expert input in favour of unverified online theories. Months of valid work scrapped with no justification, leading to wasted time and resources. Misalignment on roles — expected to perform DevOps/IaC tasks outside core responsibilities. Repeatedly pulled into irrelevant meetings; feedback to optimise was ignored. Blurred boundaries between professional and personal conduct. Security treated as an afterthought, not a strategic pillar. Low salary for senior cybersecurity responsibilities (£70k is below market). No clear roadmap for integrating senior technical specialists. Culture discourages honest feedback and critical thinking.

      Micromanging

      IMP has a lot of benefits incl maternity, home office budgets, socials.

      Never in my life have I been so micromanaged. I was required to provide evidence of every task I completed, and the majority of tasks I was given were due the following day. I was constantly told that I had to prove myself (even though I had only been there a few weeks). We had to log every task into our calendars so it could be seen what we were working on—our schedules couldn't be left blank. Most days, I had around three to four hours of meetings, leaving very little time to actually do my work. I found that a lot of people were working until 8–9 p.m to make up for the fact that the day was spent mostly in pointless meetings. Tasks were poorly explained, and the demands were unreasonable. Avoid.

      Thank you for your review and we are so sorry that your experience at IMP was totally out of character for our ways of working. We have addressed this and have since parted ways with the manager in question. In addition, we ensure that all managers have the same training irrelevant of their length of experience to empower our teams and avoid any need for micromanagement. With kind regards IMP

      IMP has a great culture. The work environment is supportive and inclusive, making it a great place to grow professionally. One of the standout benefits is the annual training allowance. The fully remote setup provides flexibility and a healthy work-life balance. Overall, it's a great place to work with opportunities to learn and thrive!
