A company in decline.

Pros

Recent contract losses and failure to gain new customers resulted in a large number of layoffs of over-head staff and a reduction in benefits. Lack of technical and management skills hurt the company.

Cons

The atmosphere is brutal - hostile and unproductive. Backstabbing, fighting, and screaming are the order of the day. Some team members even went so far as to sabotage projects (so they could try to save it later and make themselves look good). The huge egos (and there are many of them) can barely get along. What is really sad is that the needs of the customer take a back seat to the personalities.

A Company Waiting for a Buyer

Pros

Great support staff, very dedicated and professional. Nice office environment and facilities. Very well run proposal operation. Approachable senior management. Effective office, payroll, accounts payable procedures.

Cons

No IT capabilities. No strategic vision for customer solutions. No commitment to quality deliverables / no operational QA program. A mid-tier provider burdened with an 8(a) management philosophy and mindset. Woefully unsuccessful in re-competing existing contracts and retaining core technical staff. A capture rate no firm would aspire to. No core competency offerings - just a body shop for Federal clients. So focused on winning the mega-million contracts, that they have forgotten about their current customers, and building out core compentency areas in IT and GIS. Revolving door model for senior management and VP's. No commitment to career development of junior staff. No training opportunities. No corporate vision for where the company wants to be in 5 years. Focus is on posturing the firm for immediate purchase and reducing operational costs. Very poor commitment to manage off site staff. Very much an ego-driven management model.
