I worked at Insurance Australia Group (More than 5 years)

    Pros

a great traditional community oriented company with vast opportunities in the Australasian market, very well respected brands. Excellent grad program and well worth investigating.

    Cons

There is a gap between the overall group strategy and the local implementation of the tactical actions at EGM level. Resulting in a real lack of leadership and people pulling in different directions.

    Advice to Management

close the knowledge gap between CEO and EGM. Focus on simple changes that will make achieving tasks at IAG easier. Get on the same page with regards top down strategy and how each department contributes.

    Cons

Senior Management give no feedback as to direction, or if they do it is just lip service. A bit of an old boys club at the top.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the old boys club, staff morale is low.

I worked at Insurance Australia Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company at its core, progressive strategy under the leadership of Peter Harmer, good benefits, great focus on diversity & inclusion. Lots of good things happening!

    Cons

Confused re priorities despite clarity of strategy. Too many restructures and loss of some "people centric" DNA that makes IAG great. Culture is at risk through inaction

    Advice to Management

Strategy is sound, don't get distracted. Need to really refocus on culture before it's too late. There is great passion within your organization but your people are fatigued with constant change - you need to genuinely invest in them (not just talk about it). I'm truly grateful for my time in this wonderful company and I wish you all the best!
