I have been working at Ladders full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I'm SO proud of what we did with ReferHer and helping top women get into top jobs.
The views are nice, I like all the people that we've got on board here.
It's a very teamwork-oriented environment , and nobody plays politics rank on anybody else. Everyone I know here wants to do the right thing and are good people in their heart.

    Cons

Lots of work to do, sometimes too much
Very numerically focused if you don't like that

    Pros

Always building new products for the market and trying to help people with their job search. It's a very smart group of people and there is a good air to the place these days. Seems like "when we ship we win" is the new mantra, and a good drumbeat of launches that are starting to bare fruit.

    Cons

mostly made it through the legacy code which was a painful past two years
smaller company in a big industry -- good to dream, sometimes competition is tough
Could have more healthy options for the lunch

    Pros

Peoples reviews on here are highly dependent on what team they were on and when they joined. The company had a rough patch 2016/17. A large part of the Sales team were let go, and they understandably are upset. The new sales structure is performing, the content team is growing the site and seems to sell a lot of stuff. The engineering team has cleansed up the site a ton - the Member experience has gotten much better. The business is growing now - the view is amazing - and if you are on a team that performs, I think you'll have a great work experience.

    Cons

A lot of the tech still does feel stuck in the '00s. Come make it better!

    Advice to Management

Double down on what's working.. Keep cutting the dead weight.

I have been working at Ladders full-time

    Pros

So it's easy to start with the fantastic views and free meals. Manhattan always looks good; the free meals always taste good and offer choice. Great.

But there's no such thing as a free lunch, so where does the catch kick in? That depends.

Ladders is the most professional set up I've experienced in nearly 10 years. Those endless corporate meetings (that leave everybody confused), are replaced here with work tickets, sprints, and casual chats that clear up questions and issues.

The amount of stress and uncertainty this obliterates from the work day shouldn't be underestimated; nor should the upside of simply being left to get on with your work.

Marc Cenedella is a hands-on boss. In my experience, offering or even challenging an idea gains a single response: "Great - Let's test it and find out."

Anybody who likes to speak just to hear themselves speak, or come up with half-baked theories they picked up skimming the net, is on dangerous ground here. You are expected to be a professional, you are expected to produce, and ideas you stand behind stand a good chance of being tested in the public arena.

Pretenders and professionals can be quickly separated under that kind of scrutiny.

And that's where "depends" comes into it. If you're part of the "fake it 'till you make it" club, you'll lose your appetite pretty quickly here and all the free food in the world won't do you much good.

If, on the other hand, you love having ideas tested and number crunched, you'll thrive in the competitive atmosphere and wolf down far too much.

    Still, fair enough, right?

Some of the negative reviews are baffling to me. I haven't come close to experiencing anything less than total professionalism here. Office politics doesn't appear to exist - the set up doesn't really allow for it. Everything is results based.

Just as learning the hard way is hard to deal with (and that happens here), job satisfaction that comes from seeing ideas winning out in the public arena is hard to beat. It's a professionals dream job.

    Cons

Penn Station - aka, The Walking Dread.

    Advice to Management

A private helicopter service for people who come in from New Jersey would create a great sense of loyalty - especially among me.
