I worked at MPI Research (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are typically nice and they provide a lot of training. You could get as many hours as you wanted or you could just work a 40 hour week

    Cons

There seemed to be a lot of drama and it had a small town high school feel. The work is not for everyone

"Good place to get your foot in the door, definitely not a career."

I worked at MPI Research full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Generally speaking, the people you work with are friendly and easy to get along with. The benefits in terms of paid time off and company provided life insurance are nice, but not enough to make you stay.

    Cons

I enjoyed the work I did at MPI, however, once becoming certified in my field I was able to find a job doing the same type of work, for 40 hours instead of 50+ for $7 an hour more even after my certification raise from MPI. That place has the ability to make you feel expendable in the sense that even though you go through all this training 6+ weeks, in some departments even more, there is no push or incentive to get you to stay. They will just replace you with cheaper labor and watch you walk out the door.

    Advice to Management

Management here has the ability to create a really strong company that many people would be proud and happy to work for, but the compensation is nowhere close to what it should be for the amount and type of work that is asked of the employees, especially many of the "specialty" areas that require extensive training Once an employee leaves, it takes 1+ year(s) to get a new employee back up to speed where the old one was. You would think they would realize this and would do what they could to keep the good employees they have instead of wasting time trying to find new ones and resources to train them.

    Cons

The company does not want to invest in hiring more people, big loud of work, little stuff. Never get out in time, long hours. Unfortunately, bad management. Little room to grow.

I worked at MPI Research full-time

    Pros

It is a good place to get started in the preclinical pharmaceutical research industry. You have an opportunity to learn and there is tuition reimbursement. Pay could be better but benefits are good. Oh, and the cafeteria food is good.

    Cons

As others have said, work/life balance can be hard to achieve in some departments. The new owners are not local and have a typical corporate America mentality. If they decide your position or department is expendable, then it gets cut.
