Have to put up with nurses and Doctors who are rude at times.
Nursing staff doesn't understand what the job entails, which causes unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to Management

Better processes. There needs to be a better process and more set list of what to do for everything.

I have been working at Parallon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility of hours, employer ethics and morals, eagerness of management to help employees move up in the company.

    Cons

They can overlook your contributions to your job tasks and projects. In facility management, the high standards can be hard to fulfill when working with employee requests and concerns.

    Advice to Management

Give more time for projects, establish deadlines along with start dates. Assign other business departments to help on projects since the workload is massive.

    Pros

Some of the people are nice.

    Cons

No opportunity to advance unless management hand picks

    Advice to Management

You are losing good talent. The potential of people who have come and gone could have done great things to move the company forward. Look around and see the talent instead of working with your heads down and not seeing the big picture.

I worked at Parallon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place to gain experience, flexible hours for non-salary staff, decent amount of long-term employees who are very knowledgeable, clear/obtainable goals set by management, excellent opportunities to telecommute, ethics and compliance are stressed by management

    Cons

Horrible time off/PTO structure (sick time, holidays, and vacation all rolled into one meaning that you might have to work some weekends if you need to save time for vacation. However, I understand this can be difficult for Parallon since HCA hospitals can't give all employees off for holidays, but other companies i.e. retail make this work), pay is on the lower end, at times it can feel like you are being micromanaged, work can be monotonous

    Advice to Management

Let smart and talented people flourish. Give those motivated employees more challenges to retain them. Change the PTO policy (at least make holidays paid and not require the use of PTO). Dress code might need to be revised as well. Sometimes it seemed as though some were too comfortable and it was unprofessional at times.

I worked at Parallon part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Benefits they have are good

    Cons

Very POOR management. The director and managers have little social gatherings in their office with people in other departments. They go in there and you can hear them laughing so loudly you can hear it in the waiting room. Inappropriate relationships with men from other departments. You can hardly ever find them when you need help. If you ask the director the answer will always be the same "I don't know". They have no idea what we go through but will surely write you up for not making enough money or registering enough patients, as if that's the only thing the job consists of. That's all this corrupt company cares about. Money. Bonuses for higher ups. Cut hours because of low census, then write people up for not registering enough patients. The director and manager are never to be found. They take hour long lunches with their men from other departments, go on walks, feed the turtles in the pond, smoke cigarettes etc.
There isn't much room for advancement and pay is terrible. 2% raises are a joke.
If you work the ER you will be ignored.
Some employees are treated differently because they suck up.
If you go up against management and stand up for yourself you will be fired. Manager Is vindictive.

    Advice to Management

Get NEW management. The only way that sinking ship has a way back up is to completely rid themselves of the so called management. Recognize employees that go above and beyond. Be interested in their lives. GO to the ER and listen to them. Sit with them some times. Come by every day for more than just a second. Stay true to your word. Stop with the nepotism! I worked at Parallon full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Colleagues are great! Flexible schedules and lots of team boosting events

    Cons

Employees are treated like children, micro managed , management runs off good employees due to this. There is always turmoil in every department because managers and directors have poor people skills and some just don't truly care about the concerns of those employed. Especially if employees concerns involve managers and directors making self evaluations and making changes to ensure their team feels valued. It's ALL about the numbers instead of realizing that they can have numbers without huge turnover and always retraining because of it. The HR department is the worst in my experience! Director is cold, rude and uninvolved in what's happening beyond her office. The culture is to hire, rehire and not look at why so many leave or are trying to leave!

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your employees! The culture is that if no matter me tells you directly there is no issue. The issue is that tenured employees are tired of saying the same things over and over and dealing with the backlash from managers for speaking. The notion that there is no backlash is ridiculous, because the bad managers are not professional enough to take constructive criticism, they only give it to employees in a way that supports their poor people/management skills

    Pros

You have the chance to learn a lot under the right manager. Health insurance isn't bad either

    Cons

If you have no healthcare billing experience, it can be very overwhelming. There is also a major lack of communication between managers and analysts. Production rates are can be very high when you can't get answers you need to work the accounts.

    Advice to Management

Work on communications and team building. These were a very high focus 6 years ago. It needs to come back.

I have been working at Parallon full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The building is nice and some of the people are nice.

    Cons

Leadership and Directors are uninvolved and ignore deplorable conditions. The AP & Purch Directors are loud, rude, and treat their employees terrible. Leadership knows this and totally don't care or choose to ignore it. Their are not many places to advance to and only those "favorites" get to advance. One "favorite" went from CSR to Purch Assist to Purch Supvr to Manager of Purchasing and Customer Service....in about 1 years time. The Purchasing Supervisors said they have never even met with her in a one-on-one meeting. The amount of sucking up, laughing done by the Supervisors is ridiculous, especially in the Purchasing department. Those supervisors walk around visiting all day. Parallon does not pay a competitive rate and 2% yearly raises are ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

You will continue to lose quality people until you make the directors accountable for their actions. SUCKING UP SHOULD NOT BE A REQUIREMENT in order to advance. FAVORTISM should not be a norm. Hard work and good work ethic should be rewarded. PAY YOUR PEOPLE FAIRLY!!! PAY A COST OF LIVING INCREASE!
