I have been working at Populus Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Populus Group was recently voted as one of the best place to work in Washington by the Puget Sound Business Journal and I couldn't agree more! The culture at Populus Group is second to none, and is what every company says they have but don't deliver.

Management is focused on your professional development and encourages you to go to seminars or training to better yourself. To make it better Populus Group provides you with a training budget and will pay for these seminars! A lot of employees have little to no experience when they come to Populus Group but management and coworkers are always very supportive and understanding when you make a mistake. A lot of my coworkers including myself have been promoted to a new position within 6 months to a year. The company is growing really fast so there is always advancement opportunities open.

Populus Group also offers some great benefits! One of my favorite is the Treat Yourself Fund, which allows you to expense items like a vacation or a massage to name a few. The benefits are medical benefits are cheap and heavily subsidized by Populus Group. Populus Group also offers a 401K which they DO match!

    Cons

    Technology is a little outdated

    Advice to Management

Keeping doing what you are doing to make everyone better!

    Pros

    - Encourage employee engagement
    - Encouraged to ask questions and challenge the status quo
    - Work like balance (treat yourself account)
    - Independence, do not have anyone giving you orders or looking over your shoulder

    Cons

    - If you are not go getter and looking for just your typical 9-5 then this is not the place

    Advice to Management

    - Keep listening to the employees

    Pros

Truly a people first, culture focused organization. PG has really figured out how to grow the right way. Invest in the people and you flourish. The company has seen instrumental growth really quickly, and there are no plans of slowing down. It feels great to be a part of something special.

    Cons

A bit more investment in technology, but it's coming!

I have been working at Populus Group full-time

    Pros

    I cannot find any pros

    Cons

UNSKILLED- The “HR department” if it can even be called that, has zero experience in the field.
-The company as a whole does not know how to handle sensitive issues in a professional and efficient manner.
-Managers don't have nor receive any training on how to develop their team.
-Communication from the executives is as clear and transparent as crocodile filled swamp.
UNPROFESSIONAL- Preferential treatment for some and hostile verbal environment for others.
-Gossip is taken at a higher value than your work performance.
-If you are considered attractive and have the frat boy/sorority sister complex you will make manager.
COMPENSATION- Just read most of the reviews and you can see a common theme.
-Pay is not up to par with the market which causes high turnover.
-You will be given more responsibility with no pay raise.
-Medical benefits have extremely high premiums and there is no 401k match.
-Maternal and paternal leave are a joke!
DEVELOPMENT-The emphasis on personal development and "taking charge of your own climb" was crowded out by the requirement to get too much work done in too little time.
If you try to "speak up" and/or "ask questions" you only get the “stink eye” from your manager.

    Advice to Management

-Get in line with your time, have fair pay for your employees, update your technology. Until management start listening to employees they are going to be in the same sad loop without progress.
-Treat every employee equally, be more professional and do not hide behind “that’s what makes us special”.
Marketing- Don't respond with your "Thanks for sharing this feedback.." copy-paste response.
