I have been working at Populus Group full-time

    Pros

Populus Group has a fun and entertaining work environment. There are a lot of things unique to Populus Group's culture that make it a great place to work. PG has some really cool perks such as a paid stress account, flexible work schedules and tuition reimbursement. Great work ethic and willingness to show grit is an absolute must, but there is still an emphasis on a work-life balance. Populus Group definitely has a culture built on trust, at all levels of the organization. This is a great place to work if you possess certain qualities and personal characteristics. If you are not willing to go above and beyond in your role, this will not be the place for you. Candor, accountability, resourcefulness and exceptional work ethic are at the core of who PG is. You will get what you put in with this organization.

    Cons

An emphasis has been put on tenure, not on skill and talent.

    Advice to Management

Promoting employees internally is great, but there needs to be less focus on promoting individuals based on tenure and more focus on qualifications.

I worked at Populus Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked with Populus Group for 6 months full time. Populus Group is like any other Consultancy in market. They usually hire consultants on their payroll and place them through TEKSystems. Populus and TEK are sister companies and Populus is TEKSystems preferred vendor. TEKSystems has a lot clients so the chances of getting to work on various projects are decent. They can pay you good if you negotiate your salary before accepting the offer. Paycheck is on time. You get 10 days PTO. They pay you for Federal Holidays also so its a good thing. People are approachable.

    Cons

Health Insurance premiums are very high. If you have a family, you end up paying $1200 a month and has direct effect on your monthly income. Even after paying so much of premium, the plan that you get is of Bronze class, in short not the best one. Out of pocket, annual deductible are soaring high (in the range of $12K/year). So think about premiums before you accept the offer and negotiate upfront so that you get good in hand even after paying premium.
Otherwise everything else was ok. There will be little to no interaction with their personnel as most of the client side communication is taken care by TEKSystems even monthly reviews etc.

    Advice to Management

Start contributing to the health premiums so that employee does not have to pay 100% of the amount.

I have been working at Populus Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Mainly relies on H1B . Very transparent, very careful and proactive following all DOL and immigration laws.On time pay, very smooth and clear job offering process and on-boarding process. They also work on percentage basis and keeps very moderate margin.

    Cons

Do not keep any H1B holders on bench even 1 single day. They revoke your H1B the day your project ends. No hierarchy define and mostly employee stuck with one or two resources for all there need. Very high attrition rate in administrative and immigration matter team. Very young people in the administrative and immigration matter team and they are very adamant and sometime unprofessional too. They never take your call if they do not want to answer something but when they ask something they want it within 5 minutes. Totally useless health insurance.

    Advice to Management

Management never comes to employee and ask any sort of feedback. I would say they should seek some sort of feedback from their FTE contractors. Just because you are placing more and more people to different clients does not mean that's things are great. Also do not rely on the inputs from your office/administrative/immigration team. Sometime take inputs from people who work on ground to earn dollars so that office/administrative/immigration team can be paid.

    Pros

Very friendly work environment that fosters learning and growth. The team I work with is more like a family that works together and watches out for each other. Also, all the food goodies is a really nice pro as well!

Also the dedication to the employees and the rewards (work anniversaries, birthdays, other fun and cool random things).

    Cons

I have yet to come across a con working here at PG. I don't have any complaints.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and continue to grow and care about your employees.

Everyone is very welcoming and they are always there to help and they are always making sure you can be the best climber possible! They love their employees and they are always making sure to push you to your next goal and doing what they can to make sure you get there. The company is large but very close at the same time. They have great benefits a LOT of room to grow!

    Cons

It is a large company which I enjoy, but that that could be a con for some,. its a great company to work for!

    Advice to Management

I think management does a great job with their teams, they are always monitoring their goals and they are always there to help. They accept feedback very well and they give it as well to make sure their employees are doing their best.
