I worked at ProBuild full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Cons

Main part of the job is sales and if that doesn't mesh with your personality, it can be difficult.

I have been working at ProBuild full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The regular customers and several of the long term employees and a couple of the manager/supervisors make the job very enjoyable.

    Cons

Dealing with at least one very loud obnoxious supervisor who plays favorites and continually regales the store and customers with her and her families daily health issues and tells people she has the "poops" or gas or whatever ailment she happens to have, she will call out her employees for talking too much, not staying at their posts or taking too much time on breaks & lunches or not leaving on time while she is guilty of doing the same things, changes rules and procedures and schedules workers to suit her needs and the assistant manager, manager and human resource who believe everything this supervisor says. constantly changing rules that don't apply to everyone, slow check out times due to the company not wanting to update archaic equipment.

    Advice to Management

This store would do well to get rid of most of the managers and supervisors in this store and bring in an entirely new staff along with updating the entire computer and phone system.

I worked at ProBuild full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Traveled around to different company location. I was able to meet many new people and enjoyed being a part of an great team.

    Cons

Too top heavy. Corporate had too many people while location were cut to the bone. Created an us vs them mentality from the location employees stand point. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the people that pay the bills and keep the company going. Focus on properly staffing the locations and don't worry so much about the layers of AVP, VP's and the O suite. Combine some tasks, improve efficiency and reduce duplication of effort. Then make cutbacks, but at corporate, not the locations that are cut to bone and understaffed already.

I worked at ProBuild full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The work was good and challenging, the people you work with are nice and the pay was competitive with others in the industry.

    Cons

Upper management only cares about the numbers, not the people. They will replace good people that produce but make more with less experienced people just to make more profit. They overload you with work and expect it done yesterday.

    Advice to Management

Keep good people and plan better.

    Cons

Probuild was bought by another company that is moving many corporate level functions to Dallas.
