I have been working at Shentel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Store hours are pretty good and it’s usually laid back for a retail environment.

    Cons

Pay and commission structure isn’t so great and working holidays without time and half is very unfortunate.

    Advice to Management

    Lead by example!

    Cons

Too much favoritism and inside gossip. Negativity breeds negativity then soon then will destroy your team.

    Advice to Management

Local commercial advertising works. Billboard's need our brand not indirect brands. Facebook Live will be your future marketing platform.

I have been working at Shentel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Shentel takes really good care of its employees in terms of benefits and add-ons. They do strive to acknowledge people's concerns with the company, honestly, but this can be a con

    Cons

They strive to acknowledge concerns, but lack follow through. It's a cultural problem. Overworked employees, and underpaid based on industry standards. Advancement can be there if you possess the "right" degree. This is a known problem from executive level. Forget your dedication and knowledge from years in industry- it's about the degree. It's a damn shame, honestly, a lot of knowledgeable people being under-utilized for lack of a piece of paper :(

List could go on, but this isn't a bash. They are a 115 year old company, stuck in a 1950's mentality.

    Advice to Management

Less about the shareholders and how we work for them. It's not that we don't care about them, but we'd rather help a company succeed based on our love for the company, rather than padding the pockets of a shareholder we never see. They are irrelevant to your employees.

Put focus on your employees, their conditions, the shifting work tide in terms of what other companies provide to employees this day in age and find a way to build from inside the company where people understand the rural networks and people we work with, rather than searching for a piece of paper.

I have been working at Shentel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nothing good to work, no room to grow. You are wasting your time working here.

    Cons

They gave you sales tracker but you wont be making as much as your sales tracker. Not only that, they only gave you commission if the line is in the shentel coverage area.

They gave you commission based on MRC, if MRC >$30= $20. If MRC <$30 =$7.50. Upgrade $3.50. 20% on the accessories, only if you hit the goal. The goal per month is 25 new lines.

    Advice to Management

Stop BS on the comissions structure, appreciate your sales employees, know the skills and knowledge of your employees.
