I have been working at ShoreTel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The kitchen is full of snacks and drinks and the health benefits are fairly decent. Corporate wellness reimbursement the past two years is a good perk.

    Cons

There has been not so pleasant changes including multiple reorgs in less than a year. Employees are leaving the company at an increased rate. Removing the PTO policy and putting in place an R&R policy was a sneaky way of freeing up cash for the company. Many of the experience and good employees are leaving and there are people in management positions that seem to have no prior experience. This used to be a good place to work! Many positions are underpaid causing many to only see this place as a stepping stone in their career path.

    Advice to Management

Instead of overworking your staff finds ways for them to accel in their careers. There are many intelligent employees that do not hold an upper-level position. Management continues to pretend that everything is perfect and if you do not agree in time they will find a way to terminate you.

I have been working at ShoreTel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have loved working at ShoreTel for almost 3 years, but not any more. Used to attract really quality people, but much harder to attract top talent now. Pay well.

    Cons

They drove us to the point of near exhaustion and spread us too thin, and as a result the product is a mess, partners don't want to sell it, sales isn't engaged, and now people are exhausted and leaving or phoning it in. Then the company slammed on the breaks with this "Strategic Committee" and now folks are totally disengaged. Also, you will NEVER get promoted here.

    Advice to Management

Sell us already, and let something new be reborn from the ashes. You can't fix it as it is...

I worked at ShoreTel (More than a year)

    Pros

Good technology, Austin, good mix of people, professional growth,-had- a solid management team

    Cons

Not a remarkably stable company during my tenure; relocated me to Texas, merged with another company, large layoff top-to-bottom.

    Advice to Management

Software is a people-centric field; personnel investments should be viewed as long-term, despite Austin's transient culture.

I have been working at ShoreTel full-time

    Pros

Very smart, hardworking and helpful people work here

    Cons

The board announced the formation of a "strategic advisory committee to maximize shareholder value" in August.
Since then there have been multiple layoffs and the stock has languished.
Rumor is they are looking to sell the company to Mitel or a private equity company.
This has resulted in lots of uncertainty
Many people who have not left are looking to leave.

    Advice to Management

Why publicly state you are looking to maximize shareholder value and have nothing so show for it after 4 months, other than reducing expenses via multiple layoffs?
Please complete the strategic review process ASAP and let us know the results

    Pros

    Great People
    Highly Motivated
    Great channel network
    Loyal customer base

    Cons

    A little too internally focused
Need to find a way to break into the MSFT/Cisco monopoly of UC

    Advice to Management

Need to find that next big move and cutting edge solution. Hybrid cloud is great but it needs to start integrating into other platforms for customer ease.

I worked at ShoreTel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

My staff was the greatest and so were all the ShoreTel employees I interacted with.

    Cons

Executive Staff is inexperienced in Telecom/VoIP/Cloud and have no idea in which direction to take the company. Inexperience in C Level will create additional churn with employees and partners.

    Advice to Management

Hire a CEO who is an expert in Telecom not M&A.
