Pros

To be honest I honestly cannot think of any. Seriously

Cons

Wow, too many to list here. To start with SWO used to have a great employee culture (so I am told). That was has been lost as employees now are only a number. EBITDA (or using this for excuse to hold down costs), has taken over. Now the bottom line, profit, expenses, and numbers has taken over. Employees are just a number, especially if you work in sales. In addition, late 2016 into 2017 has seen a lot of lay offs, Riffs, and people pushed out of the company. Most long term employees I knew have resigned. Speaking of EBITDA, the company has a terrible cell phone plan and has recently moved to a terrible "corporate credit card " program. The 401k program is weak as well. Lots of Cons to list, but you get the idea....

Dear Colleague - thank you for taking the time to present your feedback. Perhaps if you are able, you could contact me (john.mayes@softwareone.com) or the NORAM HR Leader (Patty) in confidence to expand on your points here? It would be really useful to us to know somemore detail as if I look at the comments from our US Employee Survey, the 401K, healthcare and other benefits are not mentioned in a crirical way a great deal. EBITDA is a key measure of performance for most companies and while we have had to focus on efficieny during our transformation, our positive half year results mean we believe our approach is the right one. There is a heavy emphasis on performance so I am sorry you have not seen the upside of our culture yet - this is really important to us but I also appreciate that our culture is quite unique and won't be to everyone's expectations. Look forward to speaking directly if you are able to and hopefully we can find a way to respond to the feedback directly.

Pros

work from home, great core values, good folks (peers)

Cons

leadership is distant and arrogant, sales tools are non existing, very poor marketing, pay plan is not good, hard to understand and to track, difficult to get technical sales help for projects (constant turnover), adding solutions to sell without being able to deliver, training is terrible especially for inside people, outsourcing to other countries is failing miserably

Thanks for the feedback and it's great to see you feel the values in the group and within your peers. I'm genuinely sorry you feel the leadership is distant and arrogant. The EB have spent a significant amount of physical time in NORAM and the local leadership team seem to be investing even more with initiatives like the top 10 club, the pulse checks and of course the global engagement survey. We are in the middle of transformation as I am sure you know - this is not easy but we are constantly looking to improve so your feedback is invaluable. The compensation plan is globally standard and is commission based - we take feedback on this every year and had almost unanimously positive feedback on the 2019 plan - how can we help you understand this more effectively? Our investment in other countries to provide a flexible resourcing model and harness talent in these locations is an ongoing process - we believe it is the right one in an international / global economy and will continue to do this. The same culture you praise should provide you the platform to help us improve this. If you have the chance and you would be open to it - we would love to understand more detail and specific so we can either respond, review and improve or both. Thanks again, John.

Pros

There are no pros. It's been a while since I worked at SWO but i'd like to put another negative review on the top of their glassdoor page because they deserve it. This place was so awful. If you're reading this because you're thinking about joining SWO, don't waste your time.

Cons

Top 3 worst places to work.

Hi - I am genuinely sorry you feel so strongly that you are using your time to write an additional review instead of channeling this energy into your current role and organisation. Feedback is a gift - we would love to be able to meet everyone's expectations but this is near impossible. Part of the reason for that is we are not the right company or culture for everyone. You have said we are one of the top 3 companies to work for - assuming you have worked at all three, I hope this has now given you a better insight into the right company and set up for you and your career and you are being a superstar there. If you still have the energy and time to do so, I would always appreciate understanding specific examplesof why we were so bad for you (john.mayes@softwareone.com). This would be appreciated. If you are reading this because you are thinking about joining SWO - feel free to get in touch to make your own decision - we may very well not be the best company for you (no hard feelings). But we would also love to be the best company you have ever worked for if we can.
