Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We’re sorry your experience at Alagasco didn’t match the experience we strive to create for our employees. Your feedback can help us improve and we take it very seriously. First, we hear you on the hiring process taking a long time. And that’s why we recently changed our recruiting process. We’re pleased to say that it’s made the hiring experience a shorter, better experience. Second, and most importantly, we believe in a caring, respecting environment for all, and we value the diversity in our employees and the communities we serve. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We hope you shared your concerns with HR or your supervisor prior to leaving the company. If you did not and would like to speak with us, please give us a call so we can investigate internally. We appreciate your time with Alagasco and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

I admire the focus on making sure the customer is considered in every decision that's made, they really do live by that. It's pretty laid back. Nothing about my job is overly stressful or hectic. The people are great (with the exception of a few). The company itself cares about you as a person and your well being.

Cons

The word "engineer" gets tossed around in such a way that it makes you realize no one is either capable or willing to make decisions about trivial issues without an "engineer" involved. It really degrades the whole purpose of being one. In relation to this previous point, an engineer at Spire/Alagasco does very little technical. Check fittings on install drawings and size regulators. Any tasks assigned as you gain seniority does not seem to become any more interesting or challenging. All in all, the "engineering" done at Spire is, in all honesty, unfulfilling. The company also seems to have an inability to deal with people who consistently hinder work flows and slow projects to a halt. Bottom line, if you're an engineer who wants to have technical challenges and intriguing opportunities, this is not the place for you. If you're happy just showing up, working no more than 40 hours, and collecting a stress free paycheck on your path to retirement, this is your Mecca.

Pros

Career job,competitive pay,great work force.

Cons

Benefits are being depleted surgically. The CEO has everyone from the top down in fear of losing their job if they fail to play by the rules she demands. Management has a ever increasingly difficult time getting projects started or completed due to their inability to make day to day decisions because of this fear factor that is imposed upon all management. The mottra is " Do it my way or get another job". They are not loyal nor interested in their employees families or best interest. Just appearances, which is where their main focus is to the community and media. The workers in the field are the ones who have the real heart for the customers and do all possible to make this service and product the best Energy source available. Workers are constantly reminded that "We bought you". The "Scare factor" makes working here and job advancement way too risky to keep personal ethics a priority.
