    Pros

The Company and Culture: There are some genuinely brilliant people working at Synechron, which gives hope that the aggressive growth plans can be met. There are efforts to improve the culture through company outings, frequent in-office celebrations, It's an environment that rewards enthusiasm and gives the opportunity to seize personal growth.

Marketing: The MarComm group was operationally very well structured and consistently pushing itself to try new things and engage in more ambitious campaigns - typically with full support from senior management. My manager provided a tremendous amount of hands-on training and support, raised the internal profile of the entire MarComm team, and prioritized the professional growth of the team. I have no doubts that I left a significantly better marketer than when I joined.

    Cons

Office politics can be suffocating. There is lots of incredible potential being left on the table due to a lack of inter-departmental communication. In some groups, there exists an air of "what have you done for me lately?" which cultivates anxiety and hurts morale well beyond those groups. Too often, growth opportunities and job security seem tied to who you align yourself to.

It is also fairly apparent that the company struggled to scale its infrastructure to meet its rapid growth. HR is wildly understaffed, too many employees support functions are only based out of India, and it felt like for a company of Synechron's size, that it was in many ways still operating like small to mid-sized company.

    Advice to Management

Don't just talk about what you stand for, make sure your managers uphold those standards. If you believe in transparency, diversity, interdepartmental collaboration, etc. it's your managers' duties to be the mouthpiece, communicate them to the team, and drive those ideals.

I worked at Synechron full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nothing is a pro in this company.

    Cons

Is this even a legit company?? This is not even a real consulting company. It is not even legit. The company was created to bring Indians on H1 visas to work in the U.S. for some time.

The pay is very bad in Synechron compared to industry standards for an experienced QA. They pay very low. On the client site, you can work a lot of overtime and they will never pay you for it. It is slave labor.

No 401K or other retirement benefits exist. After many years they still do not have anything for the few U.S. citizens working for the company.

Upper management is really terrible. They keep poor and unproductive employees because they have family members in the client companies. For example, in Charlotte some employees have relatives in the client companies - Wells Fargo, Bank of America, etc. and they will NEVER fire the employee simply because they do not want to ruin the relationship with the client firm. It is so ridiculous. There are some very poor employees who should have been fired, but Synechron does not want to ruin their relationship with the client so they don't fire these people. This is so unprofessional and unethical. The politics is really dirty. They also promote people based on favoritism and friendships. It is a very unprincipled model in Synechron.

The reputation is very low as well. Synechron is losing its value and legitimacy in the market. It is not worth the time and effort to hire contractors from this company.

They also promise and make promises on the Green Card application but do not deliver. So Indians who come to the U.S. are in a dilemma. They want a Green Card but Synechron has held them "hostage" with a blank promise.

If you join Synechron as a recruiter who is also a college grad, you will only make $30,000 starting salary. That is laughable. Who can live on this in a big city??

    Advice to Management

Make this company a legit one. It is laughable what this company is doing. Clients know this is an Indian company for Indians to come here and work on a H1 visa. They do not respect it.

Increase pay. Simple as that. Salary should be at the industry standard at the minimum. Pay for overtime!! This is slave labor if you require an employee to work over 40 hours and yet you do not pay them. This is also illegal in the U.S.

Don't keep employees on the payroll just because they have relatives in the client companies. Fire them if they are poorly behaved or unprofessional. Do not fear that your relationship with the client will be ruined if you fire an employee who has relative(s).

Do not promote people because of favoritism, friendships, how much time you spend with them on weekends, or how long you have known them in India.

Do not hijack or entice Indians to work with you just so you can promise them a Green card one day.

Stop spending money on expensive offices and snacks. Instead use this money to offer more pay to the employees.
