Pros

-flexible schedules, easy work/life balance -you do meet a lot of great people -deadlines for work are manageable -great exposure, especially to international business and corporate events -opportunity for travel and promotion -nice perks like free food & drinks -benefits are good, but HR has a hard time explaining them/helping you -you learn as you go in most cases there is no formal training

Cons

-even though you work with a lot of great people, there are still office politics that can be very distracting and unnecessary to the work, not everyone is as nice as they seem -micromanaging is a huge con here, even managers who aren't yours do it you start to feel like you are under a microscope -lots of road blocks from upper management/exec team which stunts growth and opportunity for the company & employees -you'll find some really hard workers at this company and then you'll find people who know how to take advantage of them -HR ultimately just processes your paycheck, they have the companies best interests not the employees -they thrive on their Future Ways of Working like working from home and better technology, but not everyone gets those perks and the computers/phones are very outdated for a telco company.

Pros

Good work life balance, and lots of options to work remotely when needed. They set you up with basic equipment, but for a telecommunications company, they could improve. Opportunity for travel. Interesting initiatives.

Cons

The BIGGEST con of working at Telstra, are DEFINITELY the COMPLETELY unprofessional, rude, arrogant, passive aggressive behavior that are exhibited by many of their employees. Apparently a lot of the "old-timers" and even Senior Management, GM's in particular, act in a way that is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Even my children are better behaved! And it's unfortunate that this behavior is actually rewarded by this organisation, because it is seen to be "getting results" and many of these GM's win recognition in the form of awards, but the only reason that they got these so-called initiatives in, was because they bullied, harassed and condescended on the people below them to force their own agenda. And many times this is at the expense of other people or teams within the company. It is completely unbelievable. It is unacceptable to have such a poisonous working environment where people and teams that exist within the same organisation, and who should be working together, are aggressively pitted against each other and actively seeking ways to dismantle the good work that is being done in other teams. It is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. GM's - IN WRITING - say things like "you've obviously missed the point" "we're not getting anywhere" "you're wasting my time" when you've CLEARLY understood but they aren't hearing what they want to hear. THOSE ARE NOT THE WORDS OF A PROFESSIONAL . They are the words of a petulant child who can find no other way to resolve conflicts in a professional and productive manner. So disappointed with an organisation that could be doing great things. There are SOME great people there, and funding there to really make a difference. It's unfortunate that they keep around such poisonous, petty individuals who I would be ashamed of if they were my children.

Pros

Great Work Schedule/ Flexible hours.

Cons

No career growth in the US. Senior Management always have issues. Things are always changing from user applications to senior management.
