    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Timberland full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Volunteer hours program, tree planting

    Cons

The actual culture within the org is very divided by job function. Some groups frolic in the garden all day, others are heads down working. Toxic culture favors tenured employees and newcomers are met with resistance and disrespect.

I have been working at Timberland part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun environment, great discounts with other VF-owned stores.

    Cons

Difficult place to move up. Corporate can be stiff and mismanaged—they’d rather keep a customer rather than follow their own policies. We’re told to do what the customer wants as well as follow our own policies, but if the customer doesn’t like the policy then we’re forced to ignore it—even though it could get us in trouble. But if the customer complains we still get in trouble. Overall, not a big deal if it’s just a quick job, but I would hate to work here full-time with such a convoluted corporate perspective.
