I have been working at Vons full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Full time position, bump all team members even over seniority

    Cons

Very difficult to find the time needed to get all the duties of this position completed daily, expected to get several surveys which is difficult and viewed as a nagging sales pitch to customers

    Advice to Management

Provide more time to be successful with this Job

I have been working at Vons part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You only have to work 24 hours a week to get health insurance. You can work with some really great people. You also get a small employee discount.

    Cons

Management doesn't care about anything except their bonus. You are only guaranteed 24 hours a week. You have to join the union. Most of the time the store is either under staffed or over staffed. Pay sucks for everyone on the new contract.

I worked at Vons (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great active job to stay busy and physically fit. The job positions really challenge employees to do more than several tasks at once while trying to help customers. The weekly hours each employee is allocated is solely based off of how hard each employee works during shifts and for other political reasons. Management also wonderfully expects each employee to complete each and every task during the day, no matter how drastic the hour cuts are for the week.

    Cons

Not a great job to work at for long periods of time or to make a career out of.

    Advice to Management

Remember that high employment turnover ratios can cost large companies hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

I worked at Vons full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Union job, benefits, and cool co-workers. It was fun working with the people my age. We all had positive teamwork vibe

    Cons

Management was terrible, manager was worried more about making district goals then the actual employees. The assistant managers seem like they hate their jobs.
Older employees looked down on the younger ones in a rude condescending matter.

    Training was inadequate and rushed

    Advice to Management

Better training and not just lame videos
