Pros

WorkSmart has a PTO Rollover and/or Cash Out policy

Cons

Low pay for the business type, size, and location. Overly confusing bonus plan. HR was an afterthought and still is. Promotions come more often from favoritism and re-orgs than from growth, training, skill, aptitude, and mentoring. Box-checking policies and potential award winning survey responses seem more important than organic growth, testing, research, IP creation, and the joy that is naturally derived from such. Senior staff are not trained to manage people or teams, nor do they bring that experience from previous employment, nor do they desire to do it. Most staff are not trained to, nor are they provided the time to, work well within the small-business framework the company has doubled down on following. (Ask for the book.) You get the feeling they wish to will into existence some corporate "culture", and "culture" is often an excuse in hiring and re-org decisions. Worksmart has not learned from these wise words... 'What if we train them and they leave? -- But what if we don't train them and they stay?' Resignations trigger immediate review of whether a legal penalty can be imposed. Most of the negative reaction to employment at WorkSmart, a very small portion of which is included here, lies squarely on the shoulders of the COO/President. The fact that the COO/President is the only person who answers these reviews just smells.

Thank you for your candor and taking the time to provide feedback. During your 10+ years here at WorkSmart, we grew from 20 or so folks to nearly 70 - while there were certainly plenty of things we could have done better along the way, we also got lots of things right. We continue to grow and improve and hope that we're better now than when you left, in no small part thanks to feedback from you and the rest of the team. I hope that you're doing well both personally and professionally, and and very thankful for the time you spent at WorkSmart. Clay

Unpleasant place to work

Pros

Hourly rate is paid for hours worked over 40. Room for growth, in part due to chaos.

Cons

The culture is toxic and as other have mentioned, very cliquey. There is little to no emphasis on work-life balance. Management seems emotionally volatile. Turnover has become ridiculous.

Was good at one point

Pros

Plenty of good exposure to a variety of technology. Can move up from entry level easily. Great place to gain experience quickly. However, there are likely better companies in the area for this. Admin staff and certain positions seem happy.

Cons

Seems to under appreciate experienced employees. Watched most of their experienced staff leave over the last 18 months. Few employees left with more than 12 months of experience. Environment limits technical growth past 2 or 3 years of experience. Makes drastic management and structural changes often with little communication. Managment seems to be annoyed by anyone who tries to provide constructive critism. They like to legally bully employees that try to go to any NC company In a even remotely related field. In the current state I would not recommend to any experienced technical colleagues.
