We’re excited to announce the launch of Virtual Connect, a $0 virtual-first primary care and mental health benefit for all fully insured large group plans! This benefit was created to meet the growing need for affordable, accessible, equitable and high-quality virtual care. Through Virtual Connect, members can connect with medical professionals via chat or video, eliminating lengthy wait times and allowing for timely medical attention. Virtual Connect is offered through @CloseKnit, a virtual-first primary care practice. CloseKnit’s dedicated and highly credentialed providers offer the same level of care virtually as they would in a doctor’s office.
Announcing a new pilot partnership between CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Community Health Plan Maryland (CareFirst CHPMD) and Live Chair Health! Through this partnership, we intend to bring more accessible healthcare to residents in trusted community spaces in Baltimore City, Prince George’s, Montgomery and Baltimore Counties.

He will oversee a risk management team, working in audit, enterprise risk, special investigations, privacy and compliance.

With her years of expertise in policy, leadership, external affairs and executive skillset acquisition, Charlene will support expanding critical partnerships between business and government to promote access to quality, affordable, equitable healthcare.
The Greater Washington Community Foundation announced the first round of grants funded by the historic Health Equity Fund created to improve the health outcomes and health equity of D.C. residents. We're excited to share that 32 District nonprofits, working to address economic mobility and close health and wealth gaps in historically under-resourced communities, are receiving funds from the $9.2 million awarded to grantees. Economic stability is one of many socio-economic factors that impact the overall health of our communities. Over the next five years, the Health Equity Fund will advance the work in Washington, D.C. to create equitable health outcomes for marginalized populations in the region.
Participating in opportunities to have our Difference Makers support beautifying and cleaning up communities is critical to addressing social determinants of health in the Greater Baltimore region. We’re excited to announce @LesterDavis as CareFirst’s Chief of Staff! Lester will lead special projects and strategic initiatives, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to further our mission of providing equitable, accessible, affordable and quality care throughout the region. Through his unique experience, Lester will ensure we connect with the right partners to drive better health outcomes for the people and communities we serve.
As part of our commitment to economic inclusion, we're proud to support Safe Alternative Foundation for Education, Inc. (SAFE). Through a grant from CareFirst, SAFE will provide critical educational programs for middle school students and construction skills training and certification for 18 to 24-year-olds in West Baltimore. A projected 75% of students will secure at least one job interview after program completion, and 50% will be offered full-time employment by the end of one year! Our support of SAFE's educational and career training programs is one of the many ways CareFirst is improving social support and addressing essential environmental conditions that shape the health of our communities.
Through a collaboration with Headway, we’re expanding our network of behavioral health providers. This initiative highlights our commitment to better support our member’s ability to quickly access network therapists and psychiatrists and connect providers to resources to provide high-quality and accessible mental health care.
