Littelfuse Team Run to Cure Spinal Cord Injury Recently, runners from Littelfuse participated in the Wings for Life World Run. The Wings for Life Foundation, sponsored by Red Bull, is dedicated to supporting world-class research projects and clinical studies on healing injured spinal cords in the efforts to make paraplegia curable one day. 100 percent of the Wings for Life World Run entry fees are used for spinal cord research at the Wings for Life Foundation. More than 184,000 runners from 195 countries participated in the event. Together, they ran a total of 1,656,840 kilometers (more than one million miles), collected more than € 4 million (nearly $5 million USD). There were 24 Littelfuse runners from various locations joining the team. Carlos Castro, Product Marketing Director (SBU) from Germany was the Littelfuse team winner who ran 21.1 kilometers — exactly a half marathon. Together, the Littelfuse team ran nearly 160 kilometers.

WiN Europe Connects to Discuss Unconscious Bias Established last year, the Littelfuse Women’s Initiative Network (WiN) branch in Europe recently connected for a virtual WiN Reading Roundtable Discussion about the hidden biases analyzed and challenged by the leading psychologists Mahzarin Banaji and Anthony Greenwald in their book “BLINDSPOT: Hidden Biases of Good People.” With a growing emphasis on the role of diversity and inclusivity in achieving long-term business goals, the topic of unconscious bias is as pertinent as ever. It can have a big impact on such functions as recruitment and promotion and influence the ways that employees generate and exchange ideas that are the key drivers of innovation. When biases become prevalent, organizations end up struggling to hire diverse teams and ensure an inclusive work environment.

Sharing Best Practices Across Littelfuse Asia Locations Sharing best practices has long been critical to continuous improvement. To assess best practices across multiple Littelfuse locations in Asia, a cross-functional Problem Response Task (PRT) team was formed at Littelfuse Shanghai. The Littelfuse Shanghai PRT team collected data from Littelfuse plants in Lipa City, Wuxi, Dongguan, and Tsukuba, and conducted discussions to identify key factors for improvement and individual best practice in each site. The systemic review helped to develop a comprehensive action plan which led to the development of standardized process templates that were later shared with other Littelfuse sites.
Littelfuse Wins Best Protective Devices Award in India Late last year, Littelfuse was recognized with 2020 Best Protective Devices Award by India’s Electronics Maker magazine, in the category of Technology & Product Innovation at the 6th Annual Electronics Littelfuse India won the award through consistently high scores in all award categories: leadership, product innovation, excellence in their field and effectiveness in addressing a need or defining a new market.
Littelfuse Kaunas Hosts Blood Donation Initiative COVID-19 brought much of the world to a halt, isolating people in their homes, taking kids out of school and closing the doors to many businesses. Despite this, hospitals across have remained open and operational, dedicated to providing lifesaving care to patients, so donated blood remains in high demand. According to the American Red Cross organization, one donation can save as many as three lives. “Donating blood is equal to saving lives," said Arturas Romanis, EHS Engineer. "Littelfuse is a socially responsible organization that promotes the culture of helping others and I can think of no better way to give back to the community than to donate much needed blood. It is amazing to see your colleagues feeling really proud of being able to contribute to a life-saving initiative like this, so we plan to start organizing them regularly."

WiN Hosts Virtual STEM Panel with Local High School Last year, the Chicago-HQ WiN team conducted a virtual Women in STEM panel discussion with the Intersectional Feminists United (IFU) club at Evanston Township High School (ETHS) in Evanston, a Chicago suburb. The Littelfuse team shared their professional experiences and addressed questions from the students, such as ‘What’s your best piece of advice for women interested in entering male-dominated fields?’ and ‘What can I start doing now to prepare me for a future career in STEM?’ “Through our partnerships, my students and I can see that Littelfuse has a culture that is welcoming and inclusive for all,” commented Darlene Gordon, teacher of Business in Applied Science and Technology for ETHS. “My students valued your thoughts, contributions, and experiences as adding to the collective. Any one of my students should be energized at the thought of possibly working for Littelfuse in the future.”
