Capital Medical Center hosted twenty-three local high school students as they spent the day learning about careers in health care during Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington's Health Care Career Day. “These kids have deep roots here. We want to keep them local and help them grow even deeper roots so they can contribute back to our community," says Moriah Candler, program director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington. "This day helped open doors to new opportunities within health care and made the students really excited about it.”
Eight volunteers joined Covington Medical Center through a partnership between MultiCare Volunteer Services and Kent School District’s The Outreach Program (TOP). Students participating in TOP work alongside a coach to go into the community and learn basic life and work skills, with the goal of getting a job. The program works with young people between the ages of 18 and 21 who have a documented disability, such as autism, Down syndrome or cerebral palsy.

We are proud to announce the introduction of four Moxi robot assistants that will begin supporting the team at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital. Moxi The Robot, created by Diligent Robotics, will serve as an aid to our nursing teams. “We are excited to be the first hospital in the state to have Moxi on our MultiCare team,” said Jennifer Graham, Deaconess Hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer. “Moxi has not taken the place of our care givers but will serve as an aid for our team...With Moxi in place, it will ease that burden, allowing our team to do what they do best — take care of our community.”
