To stride is to walk with long, decisive steps. The 35,000 supporters and survivors attending the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Central Park were doing just that – walking towards a collective goal of ending breast cancer. Clad in pink and bubbling with excitement, attendees walked in honor of survivors, lost family and friends and in solidarity with those currently battling breast cancer. To Teresa P., attending the walk was an important way to support family and friends that have battled breast cancer, like her two aunts. “Being there with so many survivors and supporters is truly inspiring and it’s one way we can ‘show up’ and let others know we are there with – and for – them.”

One way Spectrum celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month was by hosting a webinar for our employees, featuring Pedro Espinoza, on the valuable perspectives that Hispanic and Latino individuals bring to the workplace. Pedro is a TED Speaker, tech investor, and author with a reputation for creating cultures of inclusivity and belonging. Keren G., Technical Service Trainer and Spectrum Multicultural member, attended the webinar and said one of the biggest takeaways for her was Pedro's perspective that learning from the next generation of leaders, rather than just the existing leadership, enables us as a company to bridge the cultural and generational gaps. See below for why Keren believes it's important for Spectrum to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
Our commitment to diversity and inclusion starts with each of our employees. We’re proud that Rahman Khan, VP of Community Impact, and John Singleton, VP of Video Operations, were named Luminaries by NAMIC. Congratulations!
Today, NAMIC honored our colleague James Hendricks posthumously as one of its 2022 Next Generation Leaders. As GVP of Human Resources & Administration at Spectrum Reach, James’ contributions, enthusiasm and team spirit will be sorely missed.
