We’d like to wish a very Happy National Intern Day to our 23 interns working hard with us this summer! This crew has been researching, analyzing, developing, writing and presenting all summer, and we are honored to be helping them further their career journeys. In addition to professional development, the team also gathered to create 200 snack packs for children to help silence growling tummies during the summer months with United Way of Greater Atlanta. Veritiv is aware of the environmental impact that single-use plastics have on our environment, and we realize we cannot eliminate them unless viable alternatives are available. Therefore, we work with our customers and suppliers to reduce the amount of plastic and offer recyclable products while continuously searching for plastic alternatives by: reducing the amount of resin in current products (using tools like Secure Wrap analysis and LEAN principles applied to can liners), increasing the number of products containing post-consumer and post-industrial recycled resin, offering alternative substrates, and partnering with associations that are innovating in this space (NextWave and the Sustainable Packaging Coalition’s Recycle Materials Standard). In June, 90+ employees volunteered over 230 hours giving back to their communities! Read more below: - Rodgers, Minnesota employees collected more than 300 pounds of food and personal items for the Cross Services Food Bank. - In Sioux Falls, South Dakota, employees volunteered with Children’s Home Society to gather items from children’s wish lists. - Jacksonville, Floria employees held a pet food drive for various shelters around town. They collected food, treats, litter, and towels, and delivered three truckloads to the Jacksonville Humane Society, First Coast No More Homeless Pets, and SAFE Animal Shelter. - In Miami, Florida, employees donated blood with the American Red Cross in their Big Red Bus, a mobile blood donation site. - In honor of Pride Month, our Jacksonville, Florida team collected pantry and personal care items for JASMYN, an organization that supports the empowerment of LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults through leadership, advocacy, resources, and a safe and affirming community. - Cincinnati-based employees from our Hebron, Kentucky and Fairfield, Ohio locations volunteered for the WAVE Foundation’s Annual River Sweep by cleaning up the banks of the Ohio River. - In honor of Juneteenth, Atlanta-based employees volunteered with Campbellton Community Garden to assist with weeding, mulching and planting.
