Since 1963 Fast Retailing has been working to fill the gap in Japan's casual wear market. The company operates about 845 Uniqlo (a combination of the words unique and clothing) stores in Japan and another 180 Uniqlo shops in foreign markets, including China, France, South Korea, the UK and the US. (Uniqlo opened two New York stores in 2011 for a total of 3 in NYC.) Fast Retailing -- often described as the "Gap of Japan" -- sells functional basics (similar to US-based Old Navy or Spain's Zara, but undercutting its competitors more drastically) for men, women, and children. The retail group also operates more than 1,000 other stores under the Theory, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princess TAM.TAM, and G.U. banners.

Karen Kane is a Certified B Corporation®. Since it was first established, the company has been family-run and privately-owned. Three months after getting married, Karen and her husband, Lonnie, decided to start their own company. Driven by a passion to do things differently, they started small: their home garage was also their first office, studio, and warehouse all rolled into one. The vision was simple: clothing with an incredible fit and feeling, crafted from the best fabrics and techniques available. Their idea caught on; and in the years since, their family and company have grown. What was once a husband-and-wife team is now a full family affair: Lonnie and Karen’s two sons, Michael and Robert recently joined the brand. With their arrival, the brand has renewed its promise for constant innovation with sustainability and state-of-the-art fabrications in mind. Like all great things, Karen’s original vision has evolved and changed with time, but her initial promise has never wavered. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Karen’s collections are sold in most major department stores and over 550 specialty boutiques across the country, as well as in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia.
