What is overtime like at Capgemini?

      Capgemini reviews

      Relaxed Job, Depends on Contract

      Senior software engineer
      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

-First two years have a great pay increase structure - Gave real inflation raises (between 2-8% in the last few years) - Provide training before contract - My contract work gives me a great work-life balance, but other new hires were placed in jobs that required a lot more work and overtime.

      Cons

      - They let you go if there is no contract - They may try to place you in a position that you do not have the experience for, and expect you to swim. They attempted to place me as an expert in a certain technology with barely 1 week worth of training in that software. Contracting company did not seem happy. The next placement was more appropriate. - I wish there was more PTO for a software engineer.

      Pros

Good Hikes and Promotions. The technologies used for project are in aligned with market.

      Cons

Work-life balance is not maintained, US clients require more over lap which leads to more working hours without any shifts or any additional over time pay.

      Cons

'Honesty' is one of the values of Capgemini, but this is the most dishonest company I have worked for so far. They try to push people towards working overtime without pay, and some employees had to fight for their right to get their transport paid even though it's in the contract. All this while they have this internal promotion campaign with the motto "Live your best worklife". For a long time the managing director of Denmark and COO for the Nordics, Claus Rydkjær, bragged about how well we were all doing, and how many people they expected to hire. His actual actions didn't show success though, and we also saw people being laid off instead. We were told that there wasn't a market for the profiles that were released, but in reality the company had changed their strategy in a direction that made it difficult to sell consultants under those premises. When asked he still blamed it on the market of course. In the end you're just a number to this company. No matter how good a job you've been doing you're only worth something when you're on a project. Claus seems to only care about his own interests and doesn't take in critical feedback. Capgemini has a survey tool for anonymous monthly feedback, but instead of taking feedback seriously he tends to turn it into a discussion. In addition, on at least two occasions, he has tried to figure out who gave the feedback. When writing this review, I stumbled upon an article in the Danish newspaper 'Berlingske' (I'm not allowed to insert a link, apparently). It tells the story that the HR representative and 'her colleagues' were allowed to work abroad for 45 days a year in 2022. She might have been allowed as she was worryingly close to Claus, but it's a downright lie that her colleagues had this permission. This is just one example of the lies this company pulls to look good.

      Pros

      - Good ERG programs - You will meet some great coworkers

      Cons

      - Management really sucks, I worked for this company for 3 years and only spoke to my manager twice. When they place you on a project, they let the client managers control you and talk down to you and when you complain to your higher ups, they tell you not to take it personal. During my pregnancy, I had the worst time working at this company. My client manager made it his mission to make my life miserable. I was screamed at every chance he got and talked down to. I cried almost everyday working for this company. Work-life balance sucks, you work extra overtime without any compensation and zero recognition

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Team bonding among colleagues in most/some projects are more or less great.

      Cons

A confused ruthless management. In some projects you fill 9hours in time card, but your hours go to 9.5hours with no overtime pay. Shift allowance is less, compared to other companies. Mostly support based projects, would recruit for a designation, great trainings, but would show downgrade in actual project, great place to scam qualified employees into projects where they are overqualified. If you are in rotational projects, forget work-life balance, you won't be able to plan your life outside office.

      - Nice office space . - Very clean and maintained office environment .

      Cons

      - We as an HR's are forced to work on Saturday and Sunday from the superior management. - Getting late night Teams calls at 10:30 pm asking about work details and if not picked we get a call to our mobile phones . - Hike of only 1% for all the hard work we do , we aren't recognized. - Seems it's been months spending time on ourself , most of our employees login at 8:30 am and logout at 9pm and people on top management encourage us to work overtime and we don't get payed for any effort we put in . - Importance of employees mental and physical health is not considered at all.
