      What is quota?

      Account executive
      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Product market fit for the core offering of security awareness training is solid. Overall most of the people at the company are very nice. Due to the lack of organization and so many vacant positions in leadership, many assume that if you excel there should be opportunities for career growth.

      Cons

One SMB AE hit annual quota in 2025. It is the last week of January and nobody knows what the comp plan is or what quota is. They've been talking about making changes and how great the new comp plan is going to be for nearly a year. Many people are nervous when they finally do announce a change it will be even worse. There is so much friction and bureaucracy to take even the simplest action. For example, in order to create an email template or a cadence in Salesloft, they have a "Cadence Committee" to make all of these decisions. Nobody knows who is on the committee, how often they meet, what the criteria is for getting anything approved. It makes no sense. Sellers have almost no visibility and insight into their own business. No ability to create reports and dashboards in Salesforce. Apparently we are hiring 100+ more salespeople. Do they plan to divide the already minimal amount of leads amongst all of these new hires too?

      Pros

Being an SMB Account Manager at KnowBe4 has been one of the most fulfilling career experiences I've had. Every day, I help small and medium-sized businesses strengthen their security posture through effective Human Risk Management practices. Knowing that my work directly contributes to protecting organisations from cyber threats gives me a genuine sense of purpose. The team dynamics at KnowBe4 are outstanding. I work alongside passionate professionals who are always willing to share insights and best practices. The collaborative atmosphere makes even challenging days enjoyable. KnowBe4 truly acknowledges hard work. Their performance-based incentives and recognition programs provide tangible rewards for achievement, while creating healthy motivation among team members.

      Cons

With all sales roles come challenges - the portfolio is extensive in terms of the benefits and it takes a few months of learning to get in the swing of the things.

      Health Benefits and "unlimited" PTO

      Cons

I had heard great things about KnowBe4 and was excited to finally take the jump and become a CSM. Unfortunately, I quickly found out it's smoke and mirrors. While every other role seems to still be enjoying their work here, CSMs are extremely overworked, and underpaid, morale is suffering, and it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Drastically overworked - We have been tasked with taking on almost triple the workload since going through a "restructure." We have so many tasks and busy work that we can hardly manage to provide proper customer service. Before we can even finish one task, we are pushed with another and another. Since starting this job, I have personally struggled mentally day-to-day. Being a CSM does not provide a work-life balance. I was thankful for the unlimited PTO for needed appointments until I was told to limit my requests. Now, I worry about asking for time off to see my doctors. No Recognition and unrealistic expectations - There is no individual recognition here. We are told daily we are the best, but it now feels like we are all being gaslit. After hearing we are the best, we get denied the cost of living adjustments to our pay because we get bonuses, which we don't even hit sometimes, or only get a small amount—not enough to make a difference in bills. All while we hear higher-ups flaunt their success. Limited Career Path - There is also no room for growth. After the restructuring, we lost an entire level of management. The new career path is unclear. We also don't have access to reports anymore to do our daily tasks. Why the secrecy? Our commission structure is also unclear. KnowBe4 harps on culture. Well, for CSMs, that company culture is suffering. Something needs to change, and it needs to change sooner rather than later.

Hello Knowster. We have taken CSM feedback, and the CRO announced multiple changes based on feedback received at the end of July. If you are still unclear about your compensation plan or production expectations, please get with your manager or the People Operations team. If any manager denies it or you feel you will be punished for taking time off to see a doctor, you must go over that with Employee Relations.

      Sr corporate counsel
      Current employee

      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

KnowBe4's greatest strength is in its company culture. It has been refreshing to work for an organization that is genuinely concerned about employee satisfaction and well-being. The company regularly hosts fun team building events and heavily invests in learning opportunities and career development. As a result, our leadership has crafted and maintained a rewarding and productive work environment that celebrates and supports its workforce.

      Cons

KnowBe4's business is a fast-paced environment due to our consistent growth in the cybersecurity industry. If you are someone that prefers predictability or is not able to quickly adapt to change, this may not be a good fit for you.

      Disappointing

      Pros

There are very passionate and hard working employees here. I am glad to have made wonderful connections here.

      Cons

To say I am disappointed is an understatement. New products are released left and right with no additional compensation to the support teams. The pay is significantly below market rate for the industry. Don't expect the "quarterly" or "merit" bonuses to be anything substantial. The support teams workload continues to increase while also being provided with inadequate training that ultimately sets employees up for failure. In terms of metrics, the department would rather measure your reflexes on clicking a call button and high ticket counts rather than focusing on quality customer service. Career advancement opportunities are limited. Take a look at the other low-rated reviews in this thread—the trend is impossible to ignore.
