      Does Paycom offer family leave?

      Paycom reviews

Paycom is a very unorganized company

      Software developer

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good pay and benefits, although they have reduced maternity leave time and eliminated bonuses for many positions.

      Cons

You will be expected to work well past a standard 40 hour work week almost every week. Nearly every task you are assigned will have a deadline that is only possible with overtime. Paycom has also had an unstable upper management structure for over a year now and has regular layoffs.

      Pros

There are some really great people. Some good benefits if you’re single. Great exposure to the full lifecycle of product development. Pay can be good if you’re in the right department.

      Cons

Benefits are no longer as lucrative once you have a family to provide for; they get very expensive. Paid maternity leave is amazing; however, the return from leave has left many people with unwanted changes to their positions, redundancies, and/or forced demotions. HR is not a neutral party. They are solely supporting the leadership team and not employees; making a formal statement almost always turns into disciplinary action for employee. The pay rates/salaries are inconsistent across organization and frequently changing pay and bonus structures. If you’ve been in the same position for a while, chances are new hires or new promotions will start out making as much or more than you. Often promotions are made before the job is ever posted but they have to go through the formal process so there’s “fair opportunity”. Nepotism. Very stressful- management attitude is up & down like a rollercoaster so never know what it will be like day to day. There is so much data available to better understand timelines and processes but upper management will always skew the data to fit their narrative rather than align the process and expectations.

      Pros

Very high pay. Seriously, this is honestly the only good thing about working here and it’s what keeps people here

      Cons

Extremely toxic culture from the top down. Leaders micromanage relentlessly, goals and metrics change constantly, and there’s a pervasive fear that you’ll be fired at any moment. Many employees describe the environment as toxic and hostile. Insane restructuring. The company constantly restructures teams and processes, making procedures more convoluted rather than actually improving anything, it feels like chaos with no real direction. No real work‑life balance. You’re expected to commit to long hours and hustle culture. Work/life balance nearly doesn’t exist, and time off is basically useless because the work piles up anyway. Micromanagement and rigidity. Mandatory schedules (8–5 with mandatory lunch breaks), badge audits, and managers watching your every move make you feel like you’re back in high school. Performance pressure is brutal. If you don’t hit quota fast (often unrealistically high), you’re out — sometimes within 30 days of starting. It’s sink‑or‑swim with zero compassion. High turnover and layoffs. There are constant firings and layoffs, and people regularly share stories of coworkers being let go suddenly, even close to personal milestones like maternity leave.

The $4 lunches were nice sometimes

      Cons

Too many to list them all. No matter how long you've worked there, you can be thrown over at the drop of a hat if a meeting doesn't go well or if you don't buy into the cult hard enough. They've been rapidly cutting back the benefits that they used to recruit a lot of people. Flex time, maternity leave, remote work for bad weather, gym hours, dress code, and more have been cut. They often make those changes with little/ no warning and leave people scrambling to change with a week or less. They push metrics all the time, but intentionally set it up so you can't actually get full marks because "there's always room for improvement." They overload employees, and then just fire them and replace them with new graduates who don't know any better yet. Trust me, it's not worth your sanity. Even people who give 10+ years to the company mean nothing to them.

As a rapidly growing organization, Paycom is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our business and clients. This means that our processes and policies may adapt over time, however, our goals and values remain steadfast. We understand the importance of our unique benefits, and we're committed to maintaining them so long as they align with our organization's overall vision. In fact, our paid medical maternal leave has increased, and we continue to offer support to our team members during significant life events. At Paycom, we set high standards for achievement and performance and use data-driven metrics to drive continuous improvement. While this approach may not be the best fit for everyone, it's designed to help our team members, and organization, grow and develop. Pros

I truly enjoyed the people I worked with.

      Cons

There isn’t enough money or perks they could offer to make working at Paycom worth it. The management is insanely incompetent, starting with the CEO. The culture that the executives have fostered is terribly toxic. 50-60 hour work weeks, overnights, no overtime compensation due to salary exempt, comp time is highly frowned upon and heavily restricted, butt in chair time enforced for 9 hours + a day with badge auditing and reports. This is NOT how salaried workers should be treated. They do not respect or value your time there. They started pulling back benefits like PTO/Bereavement, paternal leave, etc. Employees have not gotten a promotion in almost 2 years in some departments. There’s constant reorganizations and firings, creating an environment of constant fear and uncertainty.

Great Pay and Benefits, but an Abrupt and Opaque Termination Process

      Account executive
      Former employee
      Denver, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Great benefits and high compensation.

      Cons

I was terminated 1.5 weeks into a five-week, out-of-state sales training with no prior warning and no clear explanation beyond being told I “wasn’t a good fit.” The conversation took place unexpectedly in a secluded room near security, where I was told I was to be on the next flight home. I was then left alone to process the situation while waiting for transportation. This came after a two-year interview process, multiple in-person meetings with leadership, and full transparency on my personal circumstances before accepting the role. At the time I started, I was on paternity leave with a newborn at home, and my wife and I had to make significant childcare and travel arrangements in order for me to attend training. I accepted the role under specific travel expectations, which were later extended, requiring additional out-of-pocket expenses for flights, childcare, and professional attire. I was also approved to fly home on weekends at my own expense, but once training began, that arrangement seemed to be viewed differently in practice despite having been discussed in advance. More broadly, the training culture appeared geared toward very early-career employees with minimal outside obligations and an expectation that work take priority over everything else. That was surprising given how transparent I had been with leadership about my family situation before accepting the job. I left a stable role where I had recently achieved Presidents Club and ranked third nationally in sales. I came in experienced, coachable, and committed, but was never given any indication of performance concerns or any opportunity to improve. After my termination, I was directed to HR for additional information. Despite multiple attempts through phone, email, and internal tools, I was unable to obtain any further clarification beyond the initial statement. Prospective employees should be aware that, in my experience, following the recommended channels for additional context did not result in further information or resolution. During the first week of training, new reps were also encouraged to post positive Glassdoor reviews before many had substantial firsthand experience with the company. Prospective candidates may want to keep that context in mind when evaluating online reviews. Overall, the experience reflected a lack of consistency and transparency in leadership communication from hiring through training and termination.

      There are perks for sacrifice

      Executive sales representative
      Former employee
      Phoenix, AZ

      Business Outlook

      Pros

If you're a true sales professional willing to put in the work, the earning potential is huge. The benefits are some of the best I’ve seen—health, stock options, 401(k) match, pet insurance, parental leave, OnePass, Maven, Cariloop, and more. The pay structure (base + commission) is competitive and definitely enticing. Hitting President’s Club comes with a generous stock grant, though it does take three years to fully vest. Training starts off strong—the energy is electric, and you really get the sense that people want you to win. It’s fun, fast-paced, and engaging. That said, your experience will largely depend on your office and, more specifically, your manager. Ongoing training is available—monthly sessions from the sales learning team, quarterly regional trainings, and weekly manager-led coaching (though this last one varies greatly by office). I appreciated that the learning team was always evolving their approach to help sales reps improve.

      Cons

Everything starts from the top. The CEO is highly intelligent and expects a lot from his people, but the leadership style is built on fear, which trickles down through the entire management structure. It’s a very old-school, high-pressure sales environment. While the official hours are 8-5, expect to work well beyond that—especially in your first year—to prep and ensure you're hitting goals. I often worked 7-7. Office culture varies by location, but in my experience, management created a toxic environment. Leadership was passive-aggressive, unprofessional in their communication, and at times inappropriate in their behavior. Public berating, excessive criticism, and a lack of genuine support were common. As a woman—especially a mother—the experience was particularly difficult. I was made to feel guilty throughout my pregnancy and faced constant pressure upon returning, including during breastfeeding breaks. Unfortunately, discussing challenges with leadership was not welcomed and was often met with gaslighting or being labeled a "bad culture fit." The turnover rate is high for a reason. If you're considering this role, be prepared to have thick skin, a strong mental disposition, and the ability to succeed with little support. Speaking up about concerns is often seen as a weakness, and historically, those who do don’t last long.
