What is the hiring process like at Publix?

      It's a decent start

      Pros

Benefits are good You learn to be more confident when dealing with people Associates are pretty nice

      Cons

They hire new people all the time so hours go down quite a bit It gets boring after a while

      Great for Part-time Flexible Hours

      Pros

Interview process easy. Like both managers. Coworkers have been nice and enjoy the job. It's fun to give kids cookies and ice some pastries. I like the Publix high standards.

      Cons

Training really depended on the other bakery clerks' experience. Like would have to go back and ask managers how to do things right later. Some full timers involved in drama but as part time I'm friends with everyone. Don't expect to decorate cakes or do the prestige jobs until you've put in your time and shown interest. Expect to start off cleaning and packaging.

Company takes care of its employees

      Pros

Benefits, compensation, work life balance, all very well implemented within the Publix Technology Department.

      Cons

Hiring process takes a very long time to get through.

      Pros

Friendly coworkers, hour lunch breaks, and flexible schedule.

      Cons

They will nickel and dime your salary from when you first apply to when you actually start. Initially, I was looking at making 16-19 dollars an hour and by the time I started working they said they couldn't pay me higher than 14(with the promise that if I proved my self I could get promoted.). In my first few weeks I saw different hiring managers bring in new people at wages higher than mine even though they had less experience. Also, for an entry level job it was the longest interview I had ever had.

Bad hours always hiring new people

      Pros

      Some coworkers can be cool?

      Cons

Terrible lower management, lazy just want to make sure the store managers aren't on them. That's where the management stops. They will always give you lots of hours to start to get you in the door and then scale them back to bring in new people. Will bait you with full time for a full year and never deliver.

They value the customers more than the employees.

      Pros

Publix gives healthcare benefits if you work full-time for a certain number of months, I think six consecutive, They also used to give out $50 Publix gift cards here and there. Managers were largely nice and attentive to employees. Growth opportunities.

      Cons

My biggest complaint is the pay, they really skimp out on raises. I worked for Publix for some years before the pandemic. During the pandemic, everyone was working twice as hard. However, new people were being hired at a higher pay than me. It was shocking since I had already worked at Publix for years. I was able to go up in the company some, but my pay wasn't for some reason.

4 years of bagging and stuck bagging.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Occasional employee discounts and that's it

      Cons

If you don't meet their inconsistent demands, then apparently, YOU are the inconsistent one, and it's hard to move up the chain. I've been waiting to become a cashier for a while now, and they almost always hire new people instead of training their baggers! And not to mention, some Customer Service Staff really like to abuse their power, and keep you bagging. If one of them decides to do so does, the only way you're getting away from the front is if you're scheduled for cleaning or demos, you have CBTs to do, and your cart service, the latter of which lasts either 15 or 30 minutes, depending on the weather. Oh, and if you have plans, you need to call the day off 2 weeks in advance. Otherwise, you have to go through the process of having to find someone to cover that shift or call out. Publix isn't what it once was under Mr. George.

      Pros

Best company to work for as a part-time college student.

      Cons

Could use better skills and harder processes when hiring.

      Depressing and uninspiring

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Great co-workers and nice customers

      Cons

Management has no intention to accommodate to your schedule. You will be heavily persuaded to take more shifts. The process of getting a raise depends solely on your manager liking you. Dangerous work environment and improper equipment.
