10 min discussion with HR, standard - asked me my salary, instead I asked them for the range, HR said she didn't know, to ask Hiring Mgr.
30 min interview with Hiring Mgr - asked me my salary request, I asked the salary range, she told me she didn't know, and I needed to talk to the HR recruiter.
(you see where this went, yes) --- lying to candidates in an interview, for me, is a nonstarter.
HR called to say range, very annoyed -- "it is $X and you dont get the year-end bonus" X was $30% below market, they lied to me, and the recruiter was unprofessional.
