I applied in-person. I interviewed at Lyft (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2018
Interview
I had very positive first and second round interviews where I was told I was an extremely strong candidate, and was asked to make a presentation for the final round interview outlining a proposal for a new line of business. Unfortunately, after pushing back on the leveling of the role and accompanying salary band (the team appeared to want a senior-level manager for the price of an entry-level employee), I was told I was a weak candidate and that many "far more experienced" individuals than myself were applying for the role and that I should feel lucky to have been given this chance. Ultimately I removed myself from the interview process. I understand that sometimes candidates and hiring teams may have different expectations for compensation that ultimately lead them to part ways, but I found the sudden reversal of tone and demeanor to be shocking and unprofessional. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident related to the team I was interviewing with.
