      Business Analyst Interview

      Oct 8, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Bengaluru
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Novartis (Bengaluru) in Sep 2017

      Interview

It was a recruitment drive conducted in Bangalore. The day was to go like this: -Company PPT -Aptitude Test (Elimination round) -Case study -Discussion on case study with panel(Elimination) -Functional Interview -HR Interview They had called around 70-80 people for the drive, the process started at 9 am on a Saturday. In the company presentation we were told that apti round was supposed to be an elimination round but looking at the number of people who appeared for the second round of interview i think they didnt eliminate anyone. Second round was an hour long computer based case study. So there were more than 60 people to be interviewed in a day. Based on my observation, there were maximum of 6 interviewers for the whole bunch of 60+ candidates. There was no particular order to call the candidates, i think they were randomly calling people. People who went in the beginning, there average duration of discussion was more than 25 minutes, for some of them it went on for more than an hour, and if they liked someone they straight away sent that candidate to a different interviewer. My term came at around 6.30 in the evening, at that point of time i think the interviewer had lost interest and energy so he just asked few stuff about my cv and less than two minutes were spent on the 2 case studies that we had done in the morning(The round was supposed to be a discussion on those case study only as per the mail and presentation). Few points to not here: -What was the point of having aptitude test if they were not going to eliminate anyone? -There were more than 10 candidates per interviewer for the day for round one. If one clears first round have couple of more rounds with a different interviewer. So potentially they were supposed to conduct more than 80 interviews in a day by 6 interviewers. Before i had my first round of interview, there were many people who already had gone through 3 rounds of interview and probably would have got a job offer. -What was the point of having a case study round if they were not going to properly discuss it with the candidate? Towards the end, HR told people that they are trying to wrap up in 15 20 minutes so please have patience. Overall it was a disastrous management and a really bad experience for many of us. I am sure Novartis is a great company with so many smart people in the organization and great work culture and I would still love to join them. But this kind of experiences is not expected from such prestigious company. Companies need to realize that when a candidate appears for the process, he has put in lot of time and efforts. In my case, i cancelled my Saturdays plans, during the week took a day off to prepare for the process. But all my efforts were not even judged properly due to lack of proper planning. For a company like Novartis, i might be one of the thousands of candidates who would love to join them, if I dont accept there offer letter, they would get many more people who would gladly accept it. But for a candidate, its probably the only chance to join a company like Novartis. The HRs and the management needs to see from a candidate's point of view that what all he or she would have gone through to be able to appear for the process and it really breaks the heart when you are just given 10 minutes to sum up your whole career.
