I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at State Street (Boston, MA) in Dec 2023
Interview
Totally unprepared for my interview. Felt like I was just dumped on a senior manager who asked me about languages not on the job description. Was constantly asking about Java during an interview that was for Python. I expressed I did not know Java several times but he kept asking about coding in Java. Many red flags. No one there looked happy to be there and the whole office felt outdated.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you go about solving this problem in SQL?
Basic introduction
• Discuss your background, projects
• Questions like:
• Why Descript?
• What do you know about our product?
• Salary expectations
👉 Tip: Be ready to talk about audio/video editing, AI tools, or content workflows since Descript is in that space.
Interview process consisted of:
Logical/Puzzle interview -> Phone screening -> take home project -> Interview with managers
The main thing that made this process so unenjoyable was that it took place over 4 months (Early december to early march) which is unacceptable for an interview process.
