Pros

-Historical IPs -Flexible hours -Most people are nice and friendly -Easy commute with Caltrain -Close to Philz coffee

Cons

-Japanese executives won’t value you if you don’t speak Japanese. -Executives frequently blame others when their mistakes are called out by headquarters -Those who try to avoid being scapegoated are suspended, demoted, terminated or financially retaliated. -Smart employees saves emails and meeting minutes to protect themselves from getting scapegoated but can still be blindsided. -Female employees are often removed from important decision making process and business dinners. -Maternity leave is openly frowned upon. -The CEO is known to send scathing emails to publicly humiliate his direct reports. Many good people have left Capcom to escape from such toxic work environment -High turnover -Under staffed with snail pace hiring process -Below industry average pay -Minuscule annual raise -Zero bonus after the huge success of Monster Hunter World -Involving HR means making the matter worse. HR can't keep anything confidential and will always side with whoever is more senior

Pros

- Work with some of the most passionate people in the industry. Very smart group. - decent insurance - get to play video games for work sometimes

Cons

- Capcom Japan runs the show, there really isn't a point to the US office aside from taking directions from Japan. - don't come with ideas, Japan will shoot them all down. Don't believe the interview process if they tell you they're looking for creative people - outdated systems to work with internally - Work hours are US but bleed into evening because of Japan - work day is AT LEAST until 6pm everyday and it's frown upon to leave or log off early even if you're done with work - Capcom Japan will blame US or other teams before taking any responsibility - horrendous pay/compensation for a company that is based in a city with one of the highest cost of living. - office setting is depressing cubicles with no windows except for the executives - frustrating to see so much talent within the US team go to waste - only get 10 PTO days for the year when starting and need to accrue them. - work from home pre-covid was frowned upon
