    I have been working at EMPLOYERS full-time

    Pros

    Only advantage : fellow co-workers are pleasant to work with.

    Cons

    Upper Management likes to think very highly of themselves. Hmm, I wonder why they have such a tough time selecting "well qualified candidates" They are biased. Pay is very low with an extremely heavy workload.

    Advice to Management

    Be a little more approachable; maybe then you won't have such a high employee turner over rate .

    Cons

    Advice to Management

    Checks and balances system for management

    I have been working at EMPLOYERS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers, good starting pay and benefits. If you have no career growth goals, this is a good company.

    Cons

    The Executive team is out of touch and does not believe in their people. They reside in an area of the building that is closed off to all other employees and rarely ever interact with staff. Over the last several years 8+ jobs have opened at the officer and executive levels and many good, qualified internal candidates have applied. Only one opening was filled internally.

    Raises and non-officer bonuses have been in the 2% range for years. Inflation rates for the last 5 years are around 7%, so we're not even keeping up with inflation and cost of living increases.

    Advice to Management

    Stop hiding from your employees - they'd really like to get to know all of you.

    Pros

    Upper management knows insurance

    Cons

    Could have better benefits.
    Company is run like a large bureaucracy.

    I have been working at EMPLOYERS full-time

    Pros

    The Company is pretty good with Work / Life balance. They also hold great events and go beyond most companies when it comes to caring. For example, I received a really nice card and box of See's candy for Thanksgiving! They are also really good at hiring from within - it's not uncommon that an employee can be hired in a completely different department.

    Cons

    * Innovation and Agility
    * Limited Vehicles for Feedback
    * Overly Cost Conscious
    * Culture

    Advice to Management

    Too many things are being stonewalled with Executive Leadership. Continuing to operate as they have in the past is not sustainable. If the Company truly and genuinely focuses on being Innovative and Agile, everything else will follow.

    Pros

    Good benefits. Below to average pay. Good people overall.

    Cons

    Little to no growth. Lots of reorg, and office closures, changes of executives the last 3 years.

    I have been working at EMPLOYERS (More than a year)

    Pros

    I have worked at Employers for a few years and this company has among the best team and management that I have even seen at a company. It has a very good open door policy and supportive team environment. Team building events/activities by individual teams, departments and company as a whole are great. Very open to hearing what the employees have to say and good at receiving and listening to constructive criticism. Great work-life balance and benefits. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

    Cons

    Work load can very depending on group you are in, there can be slow days and can be busy days (but doesn't effect work-life balance, which is great)

    Pros

    They do care about their employees. I do think that their management and leadership courses offered have value.

    Cons

    Lots of "old guard" and 30 year vets lead the charge, which means innovation and different approaches get stonewalled.

    Advice to Management

    Newer talent from other verticals and disciplines would be good to vet as 30 year bread salesmen do not make upper management material.
