Pros

Pay is good. Option for buying company stock at a discount. You're not immediately laid off if your project ends.

Cons

Orientation felt a lot like what I imagine a cult indoctrination would be like. They paraded in different people singing the praise of Dear Leader Accenture and repeating how it's the best place ever for anyone and everyone. Instead of giving people well deserved time off with 10 holidays, they only give 9. In place of the 10th, you either have to do their day of service or take PTO. If you don't want to give them rights to your likeness for future advertising or whatever they want to use it for, or if you just want a 10th holiday, you have skip the day of service and use PTO instead. Their annual review process was ridiculous when I left in 2017. It was changed to be more peer review, but if you're not on a project with any other Accenture people it can be tough. Especially when you're bounced around to different projects without having enough time to learn the project well enough to really contribute. They try to force you into mentoring people as "Career Counselors", regardless of whether it makes sense for you to be one or not. I barely had any sort of relationship with my "Career Counselor" and could email him without even getting a response, so I had no idea what was even really expected of it. I'm sure there are other things that I'm not remembering at the moment, but this was an incredibly frustrating company for me.

Pros

Hands down the best company I've worked for. It's fast-paced, but Accenture genuinely empowers its people rather than micromanaging them. The benefits are a real priority — they invest in your physical and mental health, offer a generous amount of PTO, and there are legitimate opportunities for promotion if you put in the work. If you're someone who gets bored easily in a role, this is one of the few places where you can stay with the same company and reinvent your career multiple times. The investment in training and upskilling is heavy and ongoing. And the culture around authenticity is real, not just a poster in the break room — especially in the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities, you're encouraged to bring your whole self to work and be comfortable being you.

Cons

This is not the place for you if you don't like change. Pivoting is constant, and keeping up with the latest industry trends can be uncomfortable at times. The sheer size of the organization means it can be hard to find the information you need, and learning the internal infrastructure takes a while. You'll also run into some negativity from folks during tough stretches — but honestly, if you're coming from a turbulent work history elsewhere, you'll recognize that this is much better than most.

Pros

There are a lot of pros working for Accenutre. They have great career opportunities, a never ending supply of interesting work, competitive compensation, wonderful benefits, great people, wonderful training programs, a tremendous number of brilliant professionals in their fields ready to help, and great core values.

Cons

This is not an opportunity for those that do not want to work. At Accenture everyone has a load of work to do and often times under very tight customer time lines. It is a challenge that I enjoy but many might find it stressful.
