I worked at Exterran full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Co-workers making the best of it.
    Its a job

    Cons

On call 24-7, every weekend and every vacation day for the last 9 years. There is no real time off here. Constantly worked after hours. Short staffed. Positions have no backup support. Basically company is weak on the bench.
Don't expect a high degree of work-life balance. HQ employees walking circles in the parking lot at lunch trying to stay sane.

    Advice to Management

    Good luck

I worked at Exterran full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was great opportunity to operate in a true PMO structure within the oil and gas sector who have largely not adopted this practice. Worked with many talented individuals who were supportive team members that I still keep in touch with today.

    Cons

We were led by unorthodox leaders, one left the organization soon after the assembly of the PMO and contract with the client, the other was terminated over a performance issue and questionable practices which led to the premature dissolution of the PMO as the client lost confidence. This left a number of employees who relocated both domestically and internationally in major bind.

    Advice to Management

Be cautious who you allow other management to "bring in" without an objective evaluation by a multi-disciplinary team from upper-management and frontline employees. It's easier for the incumbent to misrepresent themselves as they are only accountable on paper which is easily manipulated. The buddy who brought them in, who had no intentions of remaining on board for the fall out, could care less about the aftermath which damaged Exterran's reputation to a major midstream player.

I have been working at Exterran full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It feels like a new start up company with a new direction from the management. Looking to expand the company into other areas. Management are starting to listen to the employees

    Cons

The systems are weak but I can see them trying to improve things. Years of people doing the job and then leaving have left the company learning how to do things and documenting these into real processes.

    Advice to Management

    hourly bonus reinstated

    I worked at Exterran full-time

    Pros

Company truck provided along with cell phone, and your own personal laptop to do all of your daily paperwork and your time. Bonuses every year along with raises. Tool allowance every paycheck and starting hourly pay was great! Tons of company paid training and certifications. Company provided FRC clothing and much more Pros

    Cons

Not very many except having to get up around 2 a.m. so I could drive 2 to 4 hours to arrive at the heliport or dock in time. The boat rides could be anywhere from 30 minutes to a 24 hour ride depending on weather. The helicopter rides can also be nerve racking depending on the weather and it isn't very rare that you could sit at the heliport until 3 p.m. just to be sent home and try again the next morning. Also a big Con for me even though not much can be done about it is waiting for parts to be shipped to the platform. Either our parts guy would forget due to work overload or the dock would send to the wrong platform or you name it and it would happen.

    Advice to Management

Not much because I had a great manager except his memory slipped him from time to time other than that Wayne was a great manager
