I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Make close relationships with customers and co-workers, great freebies every month, 10% off of all HT products with employee VIC card discount, 401K, plenty of opportunities to progress in company, good quality products, good starting rate for cashiers (~$8.25).

    Cons

Always under staffed, managers are unappreciative and will use you, extremely underpaid customer service staff, make you do job duties that aren't your responsibilities, don't give you recognition for your hard work, have to pay for entire uniform (shirt: $12,99, buy khakis on your own)

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time

    Pros

Get free food every month. Pay is weekly.

    Cons

Managers are lazy. Coworkers are lazy, so you shouldn’t try so hard because they will take advantage.

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a part time associate you are entitled to store benefits such as employee freebies, that was always nice. And after a certain period of time you are eligible for some health benefits.

    Cons

If you are injured outside of work or if their is a death in the immediate family the mgmt at the store I worked for was not supportive during my rehab or once I returned to work.

    Advice to Management

Since to do give your employees empowerment to make the right decision for the customers how about passing along sincerity and true care for your employees who are dependable, goal driven, truly love their jobs and the customers we serve. I miss working for Harris Teeter but not the mgmt team I worked for. Sorry nothing but the facts...

    Pros

    Co-workers, hours, and biannual bonuses.

    Cons

Multiple managers to answer to, content call outs, and "On Call" hours.

I worked at Harris Teeter full-time

    Pros

Good starting salary, excellent training, friendly coworkers, positive work culture, lots of opportunities to move up, or around, if you express your interest, get paid weekly and can cash your check at the front desk, employee discounts on HT brand items, any "mandatory" meetings are paid, yearly bonus that varies depending on how successful your store was/your performance/the hours you put in.

    Cons

Don't go into overtime if you don't have WRITTEN permission to prior.

    Advice to Management

Don't ask employees to stay later, take on extra hours, or go into overtime and then write them up for it. Better communication between managers is needed.
