    This company was awesome - great culture, awesome leadership and team. I'm sad this company was acquired because those things are diminishing.

    I have been working at Jive Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    The chemistry in Jive was famously good and is still there. However, it's gone from "let's all pull together" to more gallows humor, "last man standing." Nonetheless, people are still friendly and helpful.

    Cons

    No one doubts that every FTE is on the chopping block, in the short or long term. Aurea has its model, and it doesn't include FTEs. The CEO has been very dismissive of "spoiled" FTEs, stating that Jivers prefer free bagels to pleasing customers. This is extremely insulting, given the selfless dedication to a good customer experience I've personally witnessed from every single department.

    Advice to Management

    This is largely to Aurean management:

    1. Please stop insulting Jivers, overtly and otherwise.
    2. Just once, one time, tell your FTEs that you value them in some way.

    Jive used to be a fantastic place to work. It is no longer Jive. The love for the people is gone and everyone is trying to get out.

    Great people, culture, and customers.

    Cons

    Disorganized roadmap, no marketing leads, and I don't think the executives understood the technology or the competitive landscape. If they did I do not believe it would have been sold to Aurea.

    Advice to Management

    Spend time understanding the technology behind Jive

    Pros

    There are no pros anymore unless you are a fan of building weak software then hooking companies for tons of PS dollars to make the software useful and sticky.

    Cons

    Burning building since the buy out. People leaving left and right, no direction for the company, just un-willing to learn the business just coming in and bulldozing everything to run the Aurea way. Cost cutting EVERYTHING from hiring everyone via contractors to not spending a dime on anything.

    The Jivers that I have worked with are amazing. I can't say enough about how grateful I am to work with a bunch of smart, motivated, collaborative people.

    Cons

    A very ambitious roadmap which at times can lead to some rough edges on new products or features

    Advice to Management

    pour on the gas!
