The people are the best part about Lightspeed. I've always had amazing managers who are invested in my career and my future success. My coworkers are always team players and wonderful to spend time with.

    Cons

There are antiquated processes which are being revamped. This is difficult in the short term.

    Pros

A good career stepping stone for those with little to no experience. Many people have gained a great resume builder to go on and work for better companies.

Flexibility to work from home. Decent PTO package.

    Cons

Little room for growth, low pay, outdated product.

Company does very little to retain talent.

I worked at Lightspeed Research full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some very smart, action oriented employees keeping this place afloat. Potential for good interaction and co-development with other WPP Divisions.

    Cons

Fundamental trust issues with current management. Leadership when pushed by clients will resort to deep price concessions to retain business. Reflective of transactional nature of business. Underlying technology is outdated and company has been reluctant to invest. Increasingly core elements are outsourced leaving company vulnerable and morale very low. A very small percentage of panelists account for the vast majority of completes rendering data highly suspect on relevance and accuracy.

    Advice to Management

Kantar / WPP really needs to evaluate and shake up Lightspeed management. Previous review mentioned Americas CEO as having a used car salesman mentality, very accurate description. Very low standards for integrity jeopardizing what could be a great organization. Be truthful about tech and panel quality issues and fix them beyond patronizing lip service.

Young co-workers, work from home twice a week, good benefits

    Pros

20ish PTO days, 10ish sick days, free snacks + coffee, free bus or parking pass, $500 employer HSA contribution, 50% of gym costs reimbursed, and work from home (frequency depends on department and individual)

    Cons

Ridiculously low pay for area. Expect to have long commutes and live with roommates

Very few promotions, raises are essentially non-existent, very high turnover, lots of lay-offs, and lots of shipping jobs abroad

Upper management is untrustworthy, not transparent, does not keep promises, does not listen to those beneath them and does not implement requested changes

Many direct managers are inexperienced, occasionally unprofessional, and play favourites based on likeability rather than merit/innovation

Frequent technology outages which leave clients angry and makes it impossible for many to perform their job. This issue has been on-going for years. Technology is also very outdated and inefficient

We recently laid off and outsourced IT to save. The new IT Help Desk is 100% incompetent and a waste of time

The work is monotonous and inefficient. Also, depending on the day, you will either be slammed or have nothing at all if you work with clients

Decreasing panel and lack of competitive offerings mean we are losing revenue every year as our clients are going to our competitors

    Advice to Management

We don’t want more perks. We want higher wages. If you cannot increase wages because revenue keeps decreasing, consider whether the high-income employees are worth their wage.

Let all employees from all offices work from home so we can live in affordable areas. This will also cut down on office costs. Currently, some get to work from home entirely while others are not given that option when they are in the same role. Please consider changing this.

Fix technology, river sample, and mobile.
