Pros

-Good selection of beverages in the main kitchen -Some of the people are really wonderful to work with -They make some really great products

Cons

If you'd like to time travel back to the ways that companies operated 20+ years ago, then Netgear may be a good fit for you. Here are the joys that you will experience: -Poorly planned product launches: This is due in large part to NG not truly adopting agile and not strategically planning their launches. Don't be surprised if they pull a launch in by a couple of weeks, when the launch is a month away, and expect you to work around the clock to meet the new launch date. -Highly sexist culture: This is across the company as a whole but felt most deeply in SMB and Marketing. Sadly, even the female CMO doesn't support and promote the women in her team. Shame on her! It's not uncommon for a woman on the marketing team to be doing the work of two people. Men are promoted while the women who have more experience and qualifications, do not get promoted. 6 women have left the marketing team in the last 4 months. -Meeting overkill: I literally spent 4 days a week in 4-7 hours of meetings a day. And most often, I would have about 30 seconds of information to share in the room/video conference with 30 people. Try to skip the meetings so that you can get your work done and you'll get a backlash from multiple people. It's an incredible waste of time and illustrates how poorly the company is run. -Work-life balance: There is NO work-life balance. Period. -Culture: The culture is toxic. Most people are very unhappy at Netgear. Others have accepted their fate to be stuck there. It is the worst place I've worked in my entire career and I've worked for 8 different companies. -We run lean: Translation -- We are understaffed and you will be expected to do the work of two people. -Staff satisfaction: Netgear doesn't take any measures to make sure that their employees are happy in their roles, to help solve problems and blockers and to give feedback. There is no accountability for managers b/c they do not do 360 reviews. If you're unhappy, suck it up, attend your meetings and get all of your work done anyway. -Death by PowerPoint: Decks, decks, and more decks! Get ready to build presentations for just about everything you do there. It's terribly inefficient, but it's the main form of reporting-up that you will do at Netgear.

Not a great place to work

Business Outlook

Pros

Good technology, company builds solid products.

Cons

Not supportive of women - was there over 2 years and not one woman on my team was promoted, meanwhile 3 men were. Business makes poor decisions - consistently doesn't make bonus (in 2017 employees didn't receive a bonus because the company didn't meet expectations). Not making bonus is a product of the executive leadership team choosing to discount products (promos) to the point where we don't make a profit instead of investing in marketing and getting new customers. The organization consistently does the same thing over and over again instead of testing and learning - they do not take risks. There is no work-life balance, I was consistently overworked with zero support my entire time at NETGEAR. Even after requesting for direct reports to assist with my workload, I was denied the support and resources I needed to do my job effectively.

Evil for H1b

Business Outlook

Pros

After you leave Netgear, you would feel any other place are heaven.

Cons

If you are H1b, you get extremely under pay, heavy overtime work load without promotion. In Netgear, you are not suppose to have kids, not have family. You are even not supposed to be sick, nor take more than one week sick leave.
