Pros

I can't think of any

Cons

Into the valley of Progress rode the few hundred Progress to the right of them Progress to the left of them Cannons volleyed and thundered So ended the charge of the Chef Brigade Judge us by our actions, judge us by our results and our outcomes - Yogesh Gupta, CEO Progress We observed your actions, the results and the outcomes. Here is the verdict of the Chef Jury - Progress NIL POINTS Progress have hung drawn and quartered Chef. With a wicked smile and a veil of lies from start to finish. A company entrenched in it's technology of 1995 with the moral compass of a failed 20th century Austrian artist with a single orchid. The harbinger of sorrow brought rivers of blood to Chef. Chef is the albatross to Progresses' Mariner. They spied the bird of good omen and killed it and it now hangs like lead around their neck. Chef is dead. When Progress comes to your door. Run, run to the hills, run for your lives

We understand your frustration. It’s an unfortunate business reality that when two companies become one, not every role can be retained. To help workers while they seek new opportunities, we’ve offered competitive severance packages and outplacement services, and do wish you well in your search.

Pros

A very clean cafeteria and highly-visible parking lot divider markings. Coffee machines maintained reasonably.

Cons

This company brings new meaning to "legacy." A company relying on recurring revenue from ancient products that are too difficult for equally legacy-oriented companies to decouple from. That is the essence of Progress. A company that assimilates hot startups like Star Trek's "The Borg" and drains them of life until they are a shell of their former selves and their brands become meaningless, with all talent departing rapidly. A company full of "lifers" many of whom have been there for decades and have no idea how the real world of technology operates. Too many people convinced what they knew in 1986 is still relevant to today.

Pros

They have a high matched pension. That is all.

Cons

They make no attempt to retain essential staff during an acquisition. If your company is being acquired, please consider moving to another company. I too read these glass door reviews but I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. There is a reason that their score is 3.1 as of writing this review. Run. - They "run lean" with high profit margins regardless of what that takes. - Maintain an attitude that allows them to remain "comfortably obfuscatory" - You can have 3 managers within two weeks, some of them can be your current peers! - Lack of experience is not a barrier to entry with regards to working at Progress. In fact, if you are inexperienced, that is a positive. - Keen followers of the Peter Principle. - Gut businesses and hope to retain any of the customers to continue to make money while killing innovation and moving as many jobs to India as possible.

As a current employee, we encourage you to reach out to your Human Capital business partner to discuss your concerns. We likewise encourage patience. There are always adjustments immediately following an acquisition when two companies become one and teams get accustomed to new corporate cultures and new ways of working. Progress has a strong 40-year history of proven success, and this includes making acquisitions that generate significant value on both sides; making the unified sum greater than the individual parts. That future, and the work needed to get there, may not always be clear to those not involved in the planning. But there is absolutely a bright future ahead for Chef, for Progress and all of our employees, customers, partners and communities.
