I worked at Protection 1 full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Overtime as needed, helping people, challenging, good benefits

    Cons

Rules don't apply to everyone, management has favorites, too little quality control for clientele requests/account documentation, performance goals all about numbers not about quality, very little supervision of dispatchers on the floor, businesses/customers frequently calling in to complain about bad maintenance or failure to follow up on service or technical issues that affected their security, when referring a complaint to someone they generally got blown off instead of assisted which made customer service calls difficult, advancement was available but definitely NOT desired due to small increases in pay and HUGE increases in expectations/liabilities.

    Advice to Management

Spend your energy making sure customers are receiving quality service/monitoring rather than focusing on call processing times.

I worked at Protection 1 full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of OT for whoever wants it

    Cons

    No room for growth
    Extremely poor management
    Poor Training
Mandatory OT for Time change up dates
PTO is hard to use- only 2 people off per day

    Advice to Management

Revamp the management with qualified people and not a previous sales man who know's nothing about how to manage a department.

    I worked at Protection 1 full-time

    Pros

Loved the family culture. Everyone feels like family here.

    Cons

Training is non existent, and those who have stayed the longest do the least amount of work. Prepare to be treated poorly and as disposable labor.

    Advice to Management

You know who the bad eggs are here, get rid of them, start treating your employees as people, and advertise your KPI's to get noticed. You work too hard to get treated the way you do.

I worked at Protection 1 full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Set schedule, customers were nice, laid back

    Cons

Company blames all problems on recent merge with ADT from payroll to hiring to techs sent out, strives on scaring new employees before they hit the floor (one class quit), service dept in locations can be quite rude, people get weird after they've been there for awhile

    Advice to Management

Take ownership and investigate situations before you just coach someone.

    I worked at Protection 1 full-time

    Pros

Reasonable time allotted for each job, diversity of work consumer, commercial, fire inspections, ability to work alongside advanced technicians on harder jobs.

    Cons

CEO Sold out the company to Apollo Group who also bought ADT and merged the two companies. ADT is an evil company, the senior management run the company like prison wardens. At the time of the merger it became realized the company was doing away with everything that made Protection 1 great and submit to ADT ways. ADT is all about making the money they really don't care about the employee or tech. Two different pay structures existed a tech from Protection 1 side earned their measly hourly wage, while the ADT tech doing the same job was making piecemeal. So a typical install job that'd take 4 hours, the Protection 1 tech would earn 4 hours of salary lets say $80 gross.. the same job done by and ADT tech for the same 4 hours could get close to $300. Benefits sucked, ADT doesn't believe to sending two techs to more difficult camera installation jobs, techs are not friendly to customers it's straight business and prison. I'd advise not working there.

    Advice to Management

Wake up, stop treating your employees like crap.
