    Fantastic place to work

    Apr 7, 2022 - Project Manager
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great company to work for, the teams are very helpful and inclusive. I've worked here for 12 years, started at an entry-level position, and worked my way up the ladder. So many great growth opportunities.

    Cons

Compensation is not the best, and working hours can get out of control if you don't manage expectations.

    Don't Work Here

May 17, 2022 - Rental Management Trainee in Long Island City, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Didn't have to work super late.

    Cons

-The shop and rental counter at Long Island City have a terrible attitude, especially the Rental Manager -The customers can be a pain, not as bad as the employees were -The job lacked structure, phone constantly ringing, expected to be at 3 places at once: dispatching customers, replying to emails, marketing calls and answering the phones

    Not too shabby

    Jun 9, 2022 - Business Development Manager
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

You will develop an awesome relationship with your peers, operations and rental. Your peers (note that i did not say director) and most folks in operations will want to help you get things done.

    Cons

Doing anything that touches Alpharetta will want to make you rip your hair out. Credit is like teeth to get approved. Typically deals are dependent on senior management and your director to get approved, thus you getting paid

    Outdated company culture

    Jul 4, 2022 - Logistics Manager
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Ryder is a large company with a lot of value left resources. The mechanics are amazing.

    Cons

The Management is old school and out of touch with todays culture. Most management lack the technology acumen in 2022. Outdated practices and not understanding the current employees will continue to lead to high turnover. Tokenism is heavily practiced at Ryder. Would work here again at all.

    Disorganized

May 28, 2022 - Account Executive in Fort Worth, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    relaxed environment and nice coworkers.

    Cons

Weak and disorganized internal support teams. As an account executive in the Freight Brokerage, the job is to bring in new business. However, using a "cradle to grave" model, you are actually responsible for account management, carrier procurement, outside sales, inside sales, SMC, customer service, accountant, and you are on call 24/7 to solve problems. all for $40K a year plus commission. Overtime is half-time pay, but every month workload increases. Eventually you just don't have time to satisfy the job requirements without experiencing diminishing returns. A new hire fresh out of training, will unwittingly replace you. Makes sense from an E-level. Fix up an outdated house by injecting some money into it, rapidly expand the workforce, track the metrics, and then put the company up for sale.
