    Pros

Employee interface - Customer Interface - Equipment was newer- peer management worked together well trying to reach goals. I can't thing of many positives

    Cons

Work hours are long You are always on call and have to work weekends. There is no regard for work load. Upper management doesn't care how many hours your work load is

    Advice to Management

Accounts cancel and you can become unemployed overnight. Not a good choice for a long term career. Moving is mandatory for promotions.

    Advice to Management

At the very least, take a remedial business course.

I have been working at Ryder System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ryder likes to hire within and the relationships your able to form with co-workers and customers is excellent.

    Cons

The pay for the hours you work don't equal the of hard earned labor you will have to endure on a day-to-day basis. Ryder is currently transitioning in another direction and doesn't communicate any changes to their current employee's.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to communicate changes they've make within the business model to their employee's vs. making the changes and then expect the workforce to pick it up instantly. When the changes are made they will hold the employee's accountable, even if when they are not properly trained on these changes.

    Cons

if you don't have mobility you wont move up, just like any place else -the right boss makes it worth it - the wrong one makes you leave.

    Advice to Management

develop employees, don't just talk about it.

I worked at Ryder System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, good time- off policy, knowledgeable friendly dispatchers (if you get the right one). All in all not a bad company to work for if you like constantly going to Canada and long wait times for road service and loads.

    Cons

Lots of Canada (at least on the Xerox account); long wait for replacement truck if you break down; poor communication between load planners & dispatchers, loads often aren't ready when scheduled

    Advice to Management

Better communication between load planners & dispatch-dispatch was constantly having to call/email load planners to find out what plan was for the drivers. Dispatch should have the ability to do more than just pass along instructions; they should be able to make some decisions on their own.
Ryder company as a whole- better organization in Customer Response Center. Broke down twice needing replacement truck, each time they had bring a truck from 100+ miles away, resulting in approximately 6-8 hour wait for a truck.
