I worked at Zara part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great pay at $11.15
    Adjustable hours.
    Vacation without pay whenever

    Cons

No team. It feels like you're working on your own. Nobody wants to do their job nor do it right at all. They're about 6-8 managers that works throughout the day.
During the day it will be at least 5 different people telling you what to do. Then you'll have 1 manager closing who will not let you leave even after you have clean what was needed to be clean to go home. They want to treat it like it is a professional job, when everyone knows that it is not!

    Advice to Management

My advice to management, every manager should have guideline rules of what to do and how to do it, and everyone should follow the standard. Better communication, if the Store Manager says I can do one thing, do not try to overrule their rules.

I worked at Zara part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, decent pay, friendly staff, networking here is great with employees and customers. Good first step into the retail life

    Cons

Overworked for amount of pay, slave job, messy/petty/unorganized management. Management and rude customers probably the only two that kills the job.

    Advice to Management

Be more organized. You guys always say to do this, then DEMAND another thing done a minute later...communication is key as well. One manager will direct me to do this, but another will tell me to do that. I can’t do both at the same time. Also we supposedly aren’t “allowed” to talk with other employees because it’s in the handbook; however, the handbook does not state so. If I’m asking an employee something, ESPECIALLY IF IT’S ABOUT AN ITEM OR STORE POLICY, a manager will walk by and throw a pissy fit for “Chit chatting” even though it’s a work related topic. Favoritism is a big thing here as well. Be sure to be on management’s good/fake side. They’re really petty and aren’t so understanding.

I worked at Zara part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The whole store/company gets a minimal raise every year, and you get a 100$ to spend at ZARA every Christmas. Very fashion forward company

    Cons

Takes forever to get promoted or a raise. Especially if you’re not Hispanic, sorry it’s true. And if you’re in school, they don’t understand your need to balance

    Advice to Management

Use the positive potential people come with

I worked at Zara part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Somewhat friendly staff
    - Excellent apparel collection, always changing and I never had a dull moment to assist customers style to their preference.
    - Phenomenal visual store presentation.

Zara is no place for slackers. You gotta put your sales face on and be confident with your decisions working here. Work with urgency and you'll be fine!

    Cons

    - Hardly no directions or initiative to teach new candidates the ZARA ways of establishment.

Everyone thinks their the boss and try to push you around in each department. I had to shut down the aggressive behavior tones day after day while I had to work with some of the employees. Probably the holiday stress got to their nerves so I let it be water under the bridge.

    Advice to Management

The ZARA team just need to work on their attitude a tad bit when it comes to new employees.

I have been working at Zara full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team, Works with school, Good hours, Rewarding work, Good benefits.

    Cons

Large corporate system, Feels like a number instead of a person, stressful work goals, can take forever to get things that make work life much easier (from corporate)... lack of corporate consideration, pay raises not based on performance.

    Advice to Management

Don't waste time trying to train employees that won't be worth your time! It should be easy to tell... Focus on making the team a well-oiled retail machine that can still operate well under unexpected difficulties (call-outs, crazy business rushes, etc.) and don't kill your managers/merchandisers over sales goal stresses when you don't give them the hours/materials to make reaching those goals a possibility...

I worked at Zara full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Christmas voucher
    Some what nice employees

    Cons

    Overworked
    Draining
    Overwhelming
    Upsetting
    No values

    Advice to Management

Needs to work on attitudes, they are taking the GMs attitude and think that’s how you act and it’s horrible everything Zara stands for is not anything what the manager portray. ‘Internal program’ is a joke and misleading, no proper training given. They don’t give you there 100% and then in your evaluation your a failer it’s all your fault you will still do the work and not get paid what your suppose to. People leave all the time...that says a lot! Your nationality is what gets you anywhere in this company sorry but it’s very true.

    I worked at Zara part-time

    Pros

Learn how to work in a fast past environment
Learn how to work using a POS System
Learn basic retail skills such as customer service

    Cons

    Terrible management
Never enough staff so workload piles up on employee to the point of exhaustion

Not enough pay for so much work

    Advice to Management

Do better! Don't be a manager if you don't like management or retail!
