What does a day in the life of a Propeller Consultant look like? Just as no one person is the same at Propeller, neither are the projects and problems our consultants are solving for Fortune 500 companies. Our recruiting team and consultants will be hosting a lunchtime session on May 18 to share the various experiences of our consultants—from the types of roles they fill to the projects and clients we serve to the ways we collaborate and support ongoing growth. Whether you’re a career consultant looking for something different or have diverse non-consulting skills and looking to pivot into consulting, join us to learn more about a day in the life as a Propeller consultant. Register and join the conversation May 18.
With strong leadership, that puts people first, you can cultivate potential, design possibilities, create solutions, and make momentum. The Portland Business Journal recently named Propeller CEO, Amy Weeden, as one of its 2022 CEOs of the Year.
At the end of February, hundreds of Propellerites packed their suitcases with shorts and sandals, masked up and boarded planes, and descended on the small town of Ojai, CA—all in the name of connection. The Propeller 2022 Offsite Event was the first large group gathering since the COVID-19 pandemic caused us—along with much of the world—to shift to a work-from-home culture. While the pandemic put a pause on in-person interactions, it did not pause the work we were doing. Over the past two years, Propeller has experienced substantial growth, onboarding over 100 new employees, many of whom had yet to meet their colleagues in person. The mission of this year’s offsite was to drive connectivity and culture, and most importantly, to have fun—to move interactions off Zoom and Slack and into the real world, deepening our connections with each other and our company culture. We asked a few team members to share their experiences at the offsite.
An important pillar of Propeller's ethos is our commitment to people. Every year, we look for opportunities to keep the health and vibrancy of local nonprofits alive in the cities where our consultants live, work, and play—including Portland, OR; San Francisco, CA; Silicon Valley, CA; and Denver, CO. Last month we hosted our Uplift Virtual Mentoring Series, where we matched 20 Propeller consultants with 17 nonprofits for pro bono mentoring sessions. Learn what two trending business challenges we saw the nonprofits experiencing and the insights our consultants provided.
"Propeller’s ethos provides daily direction as I make sure I take a holistic approach to support every aspect of the business—financially, strategically, and culturally." Hear more of Linda Villarreal’s career journey, and how the power of personal values CAN align beautifully with a company’s ethos-driven culture in a way that makes work meaningful and purposeful.
As we reflect on Black History Month at Propeller, we’re reminded of the leaders who step out and create entire movements capable of advancing the human experience. We recognize that every successful movement was likely earned the hard way. Determination, setbacks, hope, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to outcomes. The inception point is always an individual who can see what others cannot. They have a fire in their belly driven by the belief that people are good, and progress is good. Learn about the vision behind Black History Month, and how that vision for learning and awareness will carry on long after this month concludes.
For many people and organizations, February is when the rubber of our resolutions starts hitting the road of reality. Some call it the "February Slump". We've likely had our annual reflection and goal-setting exercises, and for some, the glimmers of self-doubt start creeping in and distracting you from the path that seemed perfectly straight and achievable just a short time ago. So how do we avoid that inevitable February slump where our resolve starts cracking, and the way forward seems less clear? Propeller Consultant Marguerite Svendsen provides a few reminders to ward off the onset of doubt this time of year. Whether that period comes to your organization in February or later in the year, take a moment to step back, acknowledge the year-long journey you’re on, and remember that each incremental step along the way brings your goal a tiny bit closer.
