At Starbucks, we are at our best when we π care for one another π celebrate our diverse life experiences π create welcoming environments where everyone belongs Many of our Starbucks partners (employees) volunteer their time and efforts with community-supporting organizations through Partner Networks (employee resource groups), such as Peacekeeper Society. Peacekeeper Society is an Indigenous-led non-profit located on the Yakama Indian Reservation that serves the tribal community and its neighbors by offering resources like food, water and connection to culture for youth and families.
While Veterans Day is only once a year, Starbucks commitment to the military and Veteran communities is a year-round effort. Meet shift supervisor Ilana P. from Delaware and learn about her connection to the military community. βI began my partner (employee) journey as a store manager 16 years ago last week, and what makes Starbucks unique as an employer is how flexible and seamless the transfer process can be (as a military spouse). I have worked for Starbucks in Texas, California, Arizona, and now Delaware. We currently live at our 19th address in 31 years. The creation of the Armed Forces Network (AFN) has been invaluable for the community of military veterans and spouses at Starbucks. Making this population a priority is more special than you know for an often-overlooked population where our volunteer members are a minority in our country with unique challenges for themselves and their families. I wear my military apron daily and my AFN pin lives on my Starbucks jacket. I am proud to be a partner and the spouse of a combat veteran. As a manager, I embraced the opportunity to hire and develop reserve and military partners as well as support them with relocating with little to no warning β a normal part of life. I am so grateful to welcome active duty and veteran customers and partners into my store every day. Through these connections we have adopted units, supported families, and served our communities.β
