      Amazon's problem

      Associate
      Current employee
      Tucson, AZ
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Amazon has good Benefits and Competitive pay for easy work and really simple hiring process.

      Cons

Easy work but it is incredibly physical labor and there's a lot of 'fake help' meaning the managers are mostly their to police and force performance goals rather than make your day-to-day more enjoyable. Their communication is abysmal and can be Intimidating because of huge favoritism. On-top of all that, they encourage to perform well but offer no incentives to do so and as soon as you fall behind in performance they'll come speak with you constantly badgering you for under performing. You're definitely treated more like a statistic than a human being here.

High Turnover and Pressure During Uncertain Times

      Program manager
      Former employee
      Tokyo
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Individual Performance Focus: If you’re motivated by competition and prefer working independently, Amazon’s focus on individual performance could be a plus.

      Cons

High Turnover and Team Instability: I went through interviews with a hiring manager, several co-workers, and HR. It seemed thorough, and I felt confident about my fit for the role. However, my excitement quickly turned to concern when I realized that almost everyone I had interviewed with had left the team by the time I started. The hiring manager I had met was no longer in the role, and I found myself working with a new manager and team members I hadn’t met during the interview process. This was a major red flag for me. Challenges During Uncertain Times: Being hired during a crisis like COVID-19 and then being forced out after less than a year due to a massive layoff reflects poorly on job security and company support during challenging times. Competitive and Isolated Culture: The competitive atmosphere and the way people work mostly on their own rather than as a team can be stressful and make you feel isolated.
